No, on the programming, leave it as is. Batteries should be fine left connected too.

It was pretty easy to install the CPS and I have dual alternators also. However, being female...I think I had the advantage because it takes small hands and arms to get up in there! I couldn't break the bolt free though..that made for some bloody knuckles for the hubby! I have not noticed better mileage or any differnce in the sound but I am very happy my truck doesn't just quit on me anymore!! The part I bought for my 2000 F350 is the 182589c93. The notes on the invoice said to remove all shims and reset the gap but oops I didnt do anything to it other than grease the seal and put it in. No problems so far with the truck.???... Anyone looking for this part can call Brattain Int'l 503-285-9300 and the cost is $115.00 if you cant locate one.

That is the part number I gave Int'l and it was suppose to be for older trucks. They gave me the part I listed for trucks 94 and newer. interesting.

The subject of this thread is IHC "Blue" CPS.
You don't have to tell the parts guy what it's for or he'll give you the one you got for 444. The part you want is for a DT466 The BLUE cps.

I often find myself not telling the guys behind the parts counter what the parts are actually going in. They start to look up by vehicle, and I get the "that's not for that truck" load of crap. I know that!! That's why I gave you a part number, not a vehicle description!! You should have seen the looks on the guys faces at NAPA the first time I ordered that huge filter and told them it was going on a PSD. I think they though I was crazy -- well I may be just a little bit.

Lclause sorry if I sounded harsh. But it's the same old song and dance. A lady goes in a store for a certain item. The sales guy trying to helpful, asks " Whats it for" thinking deep down inside, "this lady must have made a mistake on the part number" Because that's the wrong part for her engine. I get real upset with some parts guy trying to tell me what I want or "that won't work" type of answer, Just give me the dang part and I'll be on my way.
It seems to happen very time I send my lovely wife of 30yrs, to the store for something I need for a project I'm in the middle of. She comes back with something totally different, Well the guy said "this will work better". Oh well I need a break anyway, get in the truck and go to town and get the part I wanted in the first place.

Consider yourself lucky, at least you don't have to explain to them what a filter is.
Unemployment must be pretty low here because when I was out looking for 'diesel rated' fuel hose, the most common answer I got was 'I dunno'. At least one kid tried to help but came out with 5/16 pcv hose. I had to explain the problem with the hose he had cut. His response was 'it's 5/16 inch!'.
Then, a couple of months ago when I had to have my new VSM flashed at the dealer, I showed up bright and early the morning of the appointment and went straight to the service booth. I told the kid there that I was here for my appointment for the '02 PSD. His response was "PSD? I havn't heard that one before. What does it stand for?'
