I'm getting real tired of these Blue V black cps or cmp if you are a IHC fan. All I know is, with the wrong BLUE part in my truck, it runs smoother, starts faster, gets better mileage and is quieter. If thats bad for my engine, so be it. The BLUE one stays.
I just bought my cps at a international dealer today out the door $118 I am going to install it tomorrow I hope I can figure it out With all your guys help I think I will handle it also going to napa to get my 6637 filter in the morning bad thing is 48.95 I will be ordering mine from now on at fleetfilter but didnt want to wait for the filter cant wait to get it all hooked up tomorrow I hope
I'm in it for the long haul (Blue CPS), unless someone can prove that I am hurting the engine. I've had no bad things happen with this CPS. I too like the easier cold starting and quieter running engine. I still have the old Black CPS in case i want to change it out again. I do not do any heaving hauling and run mostly empty. It's a daily driver except for most weekends.
I enjoy these posts and watch with interest on items that I can do myself to my truck that will improve MPG or HP/Torque. I look at most posts in this forum almost daily and take in all I can soak in. There are people who contribute greatly to this forum and I respect their views. These are the people that makes this site great.
I pulled out my blue cps a couple days ago because I'm waiting on a PCM from Jody and I think that the stock CPS will be better with his tunes. I miss the blue! I've burned about a half tank since taking it out and wow, I'm burning way more fuel. Pulled my boat today and I miss the low end torque. Noise wise, it was louder when I put the black back in but then I did an oil change to rotella synthetic and it's now quieter than it was with the blue.
I need my Jody tunes! I expect they will be much better than the blue cps.
How many of you have tried it? TDS has a long thread about it. I just got done replaceing mine with an OEM, but this has me curious. For those of you would have changed over to the 1807339c92, what differences have you noticed? Any better MPG?
We have now sold and had several hundred of the blue CPS installed in the 7.3L trucks. Most all the feed back has been positive regarding the performance of the CPS and the effects it has had. We have had two units fail now, one right out of the box and the other about 2 weeks after installation. I don't know that this is a high percentage of failure compared to the stock CPS or not. From what we hear from customers who have had stock units fail, the blue ones seem to be at least as good at about 1% failure so far. Mine was installed early last summer and is still going strong.
