I've had my new IHC CPS for about a week now.....it is still in the box. I decided to check the strength of the magnets in the brand new IHC CPS and the brand new Ford CPS that I have been carrying around for the past year or so. Now this was a real scientific test.....but I'm sure you guys can relate.
The Ford CPS is still in an unopened bag and I didn't want to open it, so the test was done with one layer of the plastic bag covering the tip of the CPS. The Ford CPS will (just barely) hold up a 9/16ths, half inch drive socket.
I took the IHC CPS out of the box placed the loose end (one layer) of the Ford CPS bag over the IHC CPS. That thing will hold a 1 inch, half inch drive socket!!!
That is still no answer to why everyone is seeing the improvements that they are reporting, but it is certainly clear that the magnet in the IHC CPS is superior.
neil i think we had the same science teacher i showed my wife the same thing. had to explain the bill ya know.

Stronger magnetic field equates to stronger signal.
I have a 2000 F350 Diesel that just shuts down on me. Fuel filter has been changed. It starts right back up. This morning is choked on me several times and ck eng. light came on again. Also, I was wondering if it was elelctrical because around the same time this started my overhead guage decided to be tempermental... help asap please

If the CPS is bad, the tach sometimes won't move when cranking it over. Then you know for sure that it's the CPS. I'd be curious as to what codes the SES light is throwing. Also, what do you mean by choked? Will run, then just dies suddenly, or runs, but just feels like it has no power?
LCLAUSE, you might start a new thread. Fixing this problem isn't really the topic of this thread. You might get a better response by starting a new thread, asking for some help. You'll typically get some pretty quick help when you ask for it. You've just got to get the word out there.
ummm... okay the truck is going along fine and then just cuts out or it has just completely died. No sputtering or anything it just dies. today it cut out meaning just a quick lurch or i suppose loss of power then regained but did it several times as I headed downt the road. the last time the SES light came on(as it did before i replaced the fuel filter) but other times when it just completely dies the light has not came on. It also goes out when you turn off the truck.
Classic signs of a CPS going out. Runs fine one second, the next it's dead. Then it runs fine again. I'm not sure that the SES light is related to the CPS problem though, at least not directly anyway. Your truck is doing what mine did last spring. I replaced the CPS, and it has run fine since.
You can't go wrong replacing the CPS. If that's not it, at least you'll have a spare to carry with you, as most guys on the forum do. Try to find the "Blue" one that is talked about in this thread. Also, if you know anyone with a code scanner, have them pull those codes from the computer to see what was kicking your SES light on.
I found the International part DT466 1825899c93 for $115.00. I think its right based on the info online(this site and another) I was hoping that was the right one. The truck runs just fine most of the time! Do the codes remain even if the SES light goes out? I do know someone with a machine to test but I was trying to avoid spending anymore money than I had to. I do have 130k on my truck and pull a very large horse trailer...
