Hey Vic, Hate to keep asking the same thing, but my brother-in-law and his boss just picked up 2 05's. They have both driven my truck and keep asking me to get them a SCMT for them. Any updates on release date?
Not trying to be rude, but Vic does this for the enjoyment and he does not have to participate here. I believe he has answered this several times.
Boost is directly related to LOAD.
More load = more boost (but you won't see much more than 32psi).
Yes, you are correct I was just saying as a normal average for max boost. I have seen mine as high as 36psi (empty), and it was really gettin' with it.
Like you said before though I have larger tires and a lift with stock gears so mine sees more of a load by itself.
I have Different acceleration patterens. when I get on it from a dead stop it will accelerate very hard. but when I leave the line nice and easy and then get on it when i am cruising around 10mph near the shift point, it will accerelate some what slow, "faster than stock" and the rpms will go up to around 3,500 the motor sounds like its working hard but weak acceleration. This is my first diesel so I'm still getting the feel for what this truck likes, is there a secrete to consitant acceleration.
The truck is under more load from a stop....more load = quicker spolup = more boost sooner. With increased speed, the load will go up even more UNLESS the t/c is unlocking....then the load goes down and comes back up when it locks again.
When you step on it from a roll at certain speeds, the t/c unlocks to build RPM (since we all know these babies need more RPM than a cummins to make power), then locks again to launch the truck foreward. As the t/c locks up, boost builds and you take off hard.
I'm trying to over-simplify this, so I hope I haven't warped it too much.
Basically, the t/c unlocks, and lets the engine "freewheel" for a second (kinda like pressing the clutch on a manual and dumping it while you are building RPM), it's sort of a slingshot effect.

Day 6 on the Mailbox watch. Still no sign of SCMT. Sadness setting in. And to think I could have bought it less than 10 miles away. Well I guess I'll count ants again, 1,2,3,4,5,6...

I'm not understanding why you keep commenting here that you're waiting. Why don't you call whomever it is that is sending your tuner to you? See when it shipped, get a tracking number, something. Not trying to give you a hard time, but encouraging you to do something that will help solve your problem.

Agreed.
Call whoever you ordered it from and seek a positive solution.
I promise, it's worth the wait.
I have a scmt on my 04 psd and love it. Especially at a stop light next to a rice burner!! I just recently put in a set of autometer boost and pyro guages. My boost guage is on the map sensor hose and jumps around at high boost pressure jumps from 28 to 32 psi at WOT. My pyro is installed in the manifold at runs up to 1300 degrees at WOT is this normal boost guage performance and egt Temp.
Thank you for your time
If it wasnt for superchips i wouldnt be looking at new tires with only 20000 miles on my truck thanks Superchips your the greates hahaha
My car has 9800 miles on it.
I'm very close to needing my 4th set of tires =o)
Vic, Hey a quick question for you. I have had my scmt on for about a week or so. I have only run it on Economy so far. Love the power, but they shifting is a little more than firm--it is really hard. I could live with it for the power, however my wife is constantly on me about the "way it shifts" when she drives it. Is there a way to soften the shifting or is it just mine? Thanks in advance for any reply. This forum is awesome. I bought an Edge chip first, and then found this forum the night I bought it. After reading through about the chips and learning that they had this thread with you on it, I sold the Edge chip the next day to a guy I work with and ordered the 1704 Superchip.
Thanks
Nate

Call superchips for an RA number and I will update the shifting.
The 1704 fits 2003 and 2004 model year 6.0L strokes
The 1704-A fits 2003-2005 6.0L strokes
If you have an 03 or 04 truck and want a tuner, there is NO DIFFERENCE in tuning from the 1704 to 1704-A, so if your dealer offers you a 1704, it's all the same to you =o) The dash-A simply means 05 has been added.
If you have an 05 truck, it must be the 1704-A
The advertised gains are a little different for 05, because they made different STOCK power than 04 trucks.
The tuned 05's rip just like the 04's =o)
05 F350 and F550 plots:
(shows all curves, peak AND max hp/torque gains, notice the long powerband)
If you have a 1704 currently running in your truck, an update will do nothing for you, since you do not have "2005" files, you have "2003-2004" files and they remain unchanged. An update will change nothing.
Please do not seek/ask for an update (unless, of course, your truck actually has a problem or issue).
If you have an 03-04 truck, a 1704 or 1704-A are exactly the same...EXACTLY the same. The files are the same. The programmers know what year and file they are plugging into and will tune accordingly.
Hi Vic, have you had any feedback from trucks using your program in Canada, does the damp ,or cold , or foggy air change the effects of the program, i,m in Nova Scotia and thinking about trying on on my 03 6liter cc 4x4 auto
