Not only that, but Vic was "THE GUY" who did the tuning on the 1704 series -- he recently left Superchips for a new job. Nobody here knows better than him, in my opinion.

By the way, My '05 Excursion has been running 100% trouble free for about 11000 miles, approx. 10k with the 1704 in Performance tune. Just upgraded to the 1805, and while performance seems almost identical the fuel economy appears to have increased dramatically (at least according to the "lie-o-meter"). I'm consistently seeing a jump of at least three to five mpg on the gauge in various types of driving. It's hard to do a legitimate long term comparison, though, because I have a remote start that I use regularly (Chicago winters) and that skews the results a LOT!

Regards,
Steve

I also have the 1805 flashpaq. Which power level did you use? I have a new 06 diesel 4x4 crewcab and find it amazing what a difference that the programmer has made in the truck with the full power increase! BTW my mileage also increased a little but the desire to try out the truck has limited the increase!

My comparisons are all made at the "Performance" setting, and when Superchips makes the data logging available I'll load each one up (assuming I still have the 1704) and log some performance runs to see how different one is from the other...

Steve

Was wondering who was running a Xcalibrator and if so who did the programming on it. Also why does it matter so much in hp gains on who programmed it? I guess a xcalibrator is alot more advanced than i thought.

I have gotten a second error code on my Super Chip Tuner in the last 6 months. What's the deal with this thing. Is it a lemon? It suxs that i have to send it back to Super Chip again. I'm about to just pitch it in the garbage.

Slow down and take a deep breath.

Remember, when seeking help, being overly negative tends to create hostility with those trying to help you.
Superchips will take care of this, but you need to allow them to.

Nothing is wrong with your tuner.

Are you getting a "needs update" code?

If so, this means superchips need to update tuning for your new flash from Ford.

Call superchips and they will take care of it, the tuner is designed to inform you when it needs an update.

The Xcalibrator is a SCT (superchips custom tuning) product, not affiliated with or owned by the same people as Superchips Inc.
This thread is for discussion of Superchips Inc products for the 6.0

Vic,

What is the difference between the microtuner and the new flashpaq.
BTW, I have an '06 F350, CC, 4x4, Auto, Dually, 4.10 rearend. I also have a 4" Magnaflow Turboback exhaust. I do tow a 24' office trailer and soon will be towing a 29' fifth wheel.
Which one would you recommend?
Thank you in advance.

Automatic Climate Control Help--- PLEASE!

Hello,

I am new here and would appreciate any help one can offer. My Automatic AC control went completely "dead" (powerless & without a display) on my '03 Excursion after I picked it up from the car wash shop. The fuses are good (10, 22, & 28) and the rear manual controls work. (However the compressor does not kick on with just the rear controls.)

Any thoughts on where to look next? Is there a reset that can happen with essentially no functionality? Could this have been caused if they let the batteries drain by leaving the lights on?

Many thanks to all who will help.

-Rob

In order to get answers to that question you should start a new thread.

Both will give you the same power.
The Flashpaq is a more premium product because it also offers gear/tire speedo recalibration and the tuner is internet updateable (no sending to superchips for updates).

Hi Vic,

FYI, I have had the new 1805 on my truck for a few weeks now, and there are two things that stick out in my experience. First, the fuel economy with the 1805 tune seems better than with the 1704 (both in "PERFORMANCE" mode).

Second, the 1805 tune is VERY touchy, and I notice that under light to moderate acceleration the motor does a LOT of surging. I didn't experience that with the 1705.

I know you mentioned something about a "vane setting" that had been tweaked (or something like that)? Do you know if "the guys" changed anything else? I'm not sure that what they changed is an improvement, although I definitely like the idea of getting better mileage... I'm still looking forward to downloading "data logging" support, because I thought I read that the new product was going to be capable of logging 0-60 times, etc. If that's true I'll test both products (still have the 1704) and see how much they differ.

Regards,
Steve

I think you had a fairly early revisioned 1704, so a number of fueling and throttle changes were made, along with some changes to the VGT have been made since then.

I hope you like it =o)

Remember, the tuner will be differnt to you than to someone else.
Calibrations vary, and year to year power levels vary.

Also, revisions vary, particularly with 1704 users....since the product has been available for a couple years now.
