I received my new superchip for my 2005 f350 yesterday. Today I tried to install it. After going through the sequence I got a message to call Superchips. It said Tuner requires an update gave me the numbers VXCE8N3 AND TQCIONZ. It also said
Code E-60. Also the tuner keeps flashing the numbers and the Code. It does not tell me to unplug it as is or what to do. The book says not to interrupt it. Should I unplug it?
I don't understand why it would need an update, my 05 ford has 4,000 miles on it an has not been back to ford yet. I am so dissapointed because I am leaving on a 2500 mile trip next Monday and was looking forward to having it installed. Will I have to send it back?
"Needs update" means your ford files "vxce8n3 and tqcionz" are so new they are not yet part of the database in the tuner.
Yes, you can unplug it =o)
You either have a 1704 (which the box says covers 2004) or a 1704-A (which the box says it covers through 2005)
Does the box (or tuner) say 1704 or 1704-A?
Where did you buy it?
No worries, this can be quickly updated at no cost to you, even if it's not an "A".
The tuner is doing it's job in querying your computer.

Not trying to be rude. No one has to respond at all if they don't want to. Tried the search, and read through 70+ pages before asking. This superchips thread has gotten off of the point a few times. My computer is slow and I am still new to the world of computers (yes hard to beleive). While researching the hand held programers I have not be able to find any data on the curves only peak #'s. I don't care about peak as I am looking for the extra power for pulling, and the peak power is meaningless.
Thank you for the links. I will be reading them when I have more time on this computer (remember it's slow). Thanks again for the links.
Tersejr,
Thanks for elaborating on your situation - it can be frustrating. Regarding your needs, I'm trying the towsafe mode for a few tanks. The curves indicate a bit more power down low than the middle of the road tune - Performance Tow or Economy. So far, it runs very well, and has enough get up and go when I need it. I'm not into racing light to light. My main focus right now is determine which provides me better economy with my driving style. Both tunes work great - nice to have some options.

Ok.
You simply have a Ford code that is so new it wasn't part of the 1704-a database (FOrd releases new code frequently).
Call superchips for an RA number.
They will cover next day shipping BOTH WAYS to get the tuner updated and back to you asap.
This will cost you nothing.
Be patient, when you get it back it is so worth it.

Vic
Thanks.
I usually run my truck with the tow calibration, yesterday I changed it to the performance, man I forgot the throttle response that generated. Anyway the thanks was for the fun drive.
Ive got a Quick Question, Im going to be Pulling a Stockcar this Up comming Sun. It will be in a 26' Enclosed i dont know the weight on the trailer and the car weighs an even 2000 lbs
If i put it on Tow safe mode, Should i still Put it in Tow/Haul mode on the Shifter?
It just depends on what you prefer.
The only difference is the shift schedule, and primarily at part throttle.
On a lighter trailer you don't need tow/haul, but you may prefer the extra engine braking (sooner downdhifts) as you slow down.
im glad that was asked about the tow-haul mode. So, the tow haul mode still works with the tuner installed? BTW I love that feature on my tuck and the new integrated electronic braking system is just outstanding.
