You don't want to be rolling in these trucks when going from forward/reverse like you can get away with in other vehicles. Make sure you are completely stopped before shifting.
Hence the problem with the snow pushers? Seems to be an inordinate amount of those guys having tranny issues than the rest of the SD universe.
Those guys can't afford to stop and wait for the tranny to shift completely. But then again, if they keep blowing trannies I guess they can't afford not to.
I tryed the stock mode and then the econo and back to high performance with the same results. I don't snow plow for a living but I believe if you don't make the gear engagement at least the same as stock your going to have many of these come back. I had a 2001 F-350 7.3 with one of those chips from SC(not a programmer) and it was absolutely awesome. Is it possible to tweak this thing a little more? By the way I appreciate all the responces and help.

I need to comfirm whether or not the stock program has changed anything (in regards to shift selector delay) in the most recent flash.
Vic I just wanted to say how pleased I am with my 1704-A. My truck is so much more fun to drive now. It seems to spool up so much quicker pulling out into traffic. It is incredible the amount of power it has at WOT. At normal driving it is like a sleeping giant, but man when you punch it it comes wide awake. I had some friends who are truck guys ride with me (3 Z-71 owners and one Ford HD Supercrew F-150 Supercharged owner) and they all got out with their jaws hanging in disbelief at the incredible peroformance of my truck. I am a lieutenant of a volunteer fire department and we have a new 2005 Ford F-550 crew cab 4x4 rescue truck coming in in about 3 weeks and they all were thinking the rescue truck would need a SCMT also! Of course, it would probably have to be set to tow safe mode all the time, as the truck will carry 300 gallons of water, pump, rescue tools, generator, air bottles, and a lot of other heavy stuff on board. Realistically the powers that be probably wouldn't let us put a SCMT on a brand new $125K truck, but I will continue enjoying mine in my F-250. My smile just gets wider and wider.
The fun continues, this weekend I had my 750 lb ATV loaded into the back of my truck and floorboarded it from a dead stop. My truck broke traction on my 315's and got sideways with that much weight in the back! WOW! I have to stop all this though, or I'll never be able to keep tires on my truck. I think I';ll hold Superchips responsible for my rapid tire wear...j/k!

My exhaust system is stock and I run in HP mode all the time except when towing my toyhauler trailer.
I've towed a small trailer with two motorcycles on it that weighed less than 4000 lb with no problems at all.
Post turbo EGTs are generally reported to be a few hundred degrees cooler than preturbo - but the exact location of the pyro probe and the operating conditions of the engine effect the actual reading somewhat. So if a preturbo temp of 1250 is OK, then a post turbo temp of 950 would be a reasonable starting point for a max value.
I had a question about the SCMT. I just got the 1704 on Fri and installed it with the Econ. tuning. I just got a chance to stand on it from a dead stop last night. As expected it took 1/2 a sec. or so to spool up and then took off, spinning the tires of course, but when it got up to about 55-60mph it missed a shift or something and fell in between gears. I let off the gas and after a second it was able to fall into gear and then get going again. Has anyone else had this happen or could there be something in my particular tuner that needs to be upgraded? I drove the truck about 400mi on the highway over the weekend and some more around town and this is the only problem I have had.
Call SC, I have never heard of nor read of this problem....how did you find FTE and why did you come here....curious I am. I read one of your posts way back in 10-30-2004, shoot you need to drop by more often

Very rare issue.
I've seen it 3 or 4 times, and it went away after a few WOT runs never to return.
A few calibrations are learn sensitive, even when best efforts are made to decrease learning time. This can have a lot to do with how the truck was driven before it was programmed.
It should go away quickly. If it does it again after a few more WOT runs, call superchips.
First heard of FTE last year when I bought my truck and was having problems with the surging. I did a google search that ended up bringing me to your site at that time, it's been a great source of info ever since. I ended up finding an answer to my surging on the site and was able to tell the dealer how to fix it b/c they were only interested in repeatedly replacing the EGR. Then, with diesel prices climbing so much, I wanted an mpg increase and came back by to do some research and ended up going with the SCMT. I read the site frequently, just don't post unless I have something valuable to input or a serious question. Thanks for the site.
