Superchips 6.0 Microtuner Thread
I need to bring my diesel Excursion in to Ford for some warranty work, completely unrelated to my engine. However, there was an unusual coincidence that got me wondering ...
My auto climate control has been failing to redirect air to any ducts other than the defroster vents lately (even when I manually select other vents), although every once in a while it will mysteriously work. Lately those times have become extremely few and far between.
Tonight I retuned my truck to stock, and immediately after doing so I restarted the engine to make sure everything was operating "normally." First thing I noticed was that the climate control was working properly again. Now I'm VERY skeptical that reprogramming the engine management computer would affect the operation of the auto climate control, but I have to ask ... is there any part of the two systems that is interconnected? If so there may be a programming glitch to diagnose.
I fully expect your answer to be "no," but just in case the answer might be "yes" I'm throwing it out there.
Thanks in advance,
Steve
ps. I'm not looking forward to driving "un-tuned" for the next few days!

It is possible to retrieve intermittant and continous EATCM, electronic automatic temperature control module, DTCs by pushing the front panel controls in various ways. PM me if you desire same.
Since everything is networked there is always the possibility for something else on the network to screw something up; but, more than likely restoring the program back to stock may have allowed some general reset.
Not likely anything in the tuner program is causing problems with the climate system.
I do wonder though; when the program is restored back to stock and codes are cleared.... Are all DTCs for all modules cleared?
Bob
I should mention that since last post the auto climate control has continued to sporadically malfunction, so I doubt that the tuning was responsible. Truck is due in to Ford on Monday morning for a variety of mostly minor issues, so we'll see what they find.

Steve

I just checked my book.Maybe it only asks you if your setting performance mode.Is yours set to performance?
I have Reset it for Economy for now to see if there was a Change but the only thing i notice is a Very hard Shift between 1 & 2 after that very smooth. So hard it feels like an Impact of some kind.
My question is this, Will this Motor wear out so much in only 130k mi that i wouldnt notice an Add on such as this? Or maby because most of the trucks it was tested on were not Dually's? Maby its not as Noticeable on a Bigger truck?
Im Newer to Diesels so please enlighten me!

It was tested on all trucks...
You should feel a huge difference, and your wot shift point should be around 4k instead of 3500-3600.
If you dont feel power, send it in for an update.
Have you floored it and held it on the floor yet?

I think we'll continue to use it.
How do you know someone else hasn't replied while you are typing yours?
It happens a lot.
