Man this is more of a PITA than I expected. Nothing was too bad, except I went to take the flex plate dust shield off to hold the motor from spinning while I take the HPOP drive bolt off. Found out that PO was nice enough to round off all of those bolts for me. If I had 220V set up at the new house already it wouldn’t be a big deal, but that was a night ender for me. Any other ways to keep the engine from turning?
Put it in gear. Or breaker bar on the crankshaft bolt. Just remember that mama jama is in there before you crank
wow I feel stupid. I’m going to chock the wheel and put it in gear haha. But that’s a task for tomorrow night. Once I have that bolt and washer off I just need to take the two mounting bolts off and swap the IPR and reservoir over. With any luck (and me remembering to bring some oil to that house tomorrow) I’ll be driving tomorrow night!
Curious what you will see once the HPOP system is burped. Some guys say park up hill, drive like stole it, etc. Got me. I just dorked around and did some freeway driving...seemed to work.
Hope it cures your ails! If so, gimme a shout out. If not, blame @Khan

He'll probably blame me for spending his money when I'm done with these valve springs. @Edgethis probably will as well

I had my wife hold the crank bolt with a breaker bar. Didn't need alot of force to get the HPOP gear bolt off that way. Same for torquing it back on. Pretty easy, just need a helper.
Don't ask me though. I'm busy those days and times

I'm very confident this will solve the problem. I didn't have the time to work on the truck after I had completely replaced the factory fuel system with new and it still leaked, so I had a local shop do my e fuel and they said my hard start issues at that time seemed to be a weak HPOP issue.

Can't wait to hear how it goes. I was planning on having a busy winter working on the tacoma, but it works as is, so I'll probably do some work (all the crap I want to do under the valve covers) instead. Plus, that'll save me like $8k compared to what I was going to do to the tacoma haha.

My buddy that was drinking beer and laughing at me work last night left about 5 minutes before I got to that point. Crappy timing haha
Well. I might have ****ed up. I forgot to put the new o rings in the HPOP fittings and didn’t realize it until everything was put back together. Decided to just see if it.leaks. Truck fired up after about 6 seconds of cranking. I’ll get my 50 miles in by the end of day tomorrow and report back
Hopefully those were extra o rings. Glad to hear you got it running, thats a good sign.
yeah I’m not good about pictures haha. I’ll take some of the old pump and final product tomorrow probably. I’m not too hopeful that this solved my problem because it already threw a code. I didn’t read it, but it felt the same as before. Guess I’ll give it the 50 miles to see, and then I’ll resort to pulling the front end off and getting the intercooler lines to fit better
Not on dually. It is still at my house in Houston, since late Feb. Guaranteed will not start now unless batts charged.
Doing rear axle studs on my 4.9 I bought in April. Two or three sheered off upon removal due to over torque. I am guessing 200-250lbft to put them well beyond yield. Spec is 100 on the half ton 1/2-20!
