So I've run into several issues throughout this process, but at least it runs haha. I pulled the factory firewall heat shield off and installed some high temp sound deadening behind it. Also replaced the torn up factory hood insulation with the same material. I was already going to replace the body mounts, so I pulled the cab to do some cleaning and make install easier. Got everything in an dropped the cab back down. When installing sensors I realized my HPOP reservoir did not have any threads for the switch that goes on top. Picked up a helicoil kit for that. When I got everything in and ready, I went to crank the truck and my clutch hit the floor and stuck with no pressure. Pulled the slave out and realized that I wasn't paying attention when I cleaned the bell housing, and I put the shift fork in backwards. Left the slave out and decided to try to get the truck started anyways since I wanted to hear it run. Jumped the starter relay and got the truck fired up. Immediately shut it off when I heard the shift fork contacting the pressure plate. Got everything other than the hood back on, tossed it on the lift, pulled the tranny back and flipped the fork. Once it was all together I realized I had over extended the clutch master somehow and pulled the shaft out of it, breaking whatever retains it inside. Once again decided to start the truck off the relay. At that point the truck sounded amazing. Super smooth and much quieter than before. Yesterday after work I put a new master in, and realized that somehow the shift lever that pushes the master in had rotated on the shaft it sits on. I pulled it out to realize that the lever itself is not splined, but seats up to about 1/4" of splines on the shaft, so it had worn down and become loose. Got it tightened back up, tossed the hood on and decided it was time to go for a drive. I live about 3-4 miles from the shop I have been doing all of this work at, so I was going to just do a quick trip home and back to get to operating temp and then an oil change. Well I made it 1 mile from my house before my fan hit something and exploded as I described above. Got it home and drained the radiator to save as much coolant as I could. Picking up a new radiator and factory replacement steel fan today. Hopefully I can get it all fixed up this weekend. But here are some pictures of the project so far
i forgot to put in my TO bearing when i put in my tans but didnt finish it as much as you did
my slave fell off on my test drive, i didnt have a coat with me and it was windy. that was fun to put back on with just a screw driver and took like 10 tries to get it on until i found out i bent the clip and didnt have my glasses on or a flash light to see it well but i had my phone to help me

That sounds equally crappy haha. It's the stupid mistakes that bother me the most
when i was 16 doing my own first oil change on my 350 Buick Wagon, while oil was draining out i wanted to look at another issue with the heater controls that needed vacuum to work and stared it up with no oil or filter until the WTH AM I DOING voice screamed at me about 30 seconds later. 200 miles later i had the worst knock knock jokes I have ever heard. lucky it was just a 200 beater but back then i was just a kid with not much money

That's a rough day, bet you have never done anything remotely close to that ever since lol.
Well, I got the new rad and fan in Saturday morning, and started to put some miles on the truck. Changed the oil after about 30 mins of run time. Everything looks pretty good. Mostly the expected break in material and leftovers from the machine shop. I'll change the oil again later this week when I hit 250 miles, and then again at 1000 miles, then I'll go back to a normal schedule. Spent over an hour at the self car wash cleaning up the undercarriage and exterior. That was the most grime I have ever had to remove from a vehicle. I also had my neighbor swing by and do a quick detail on the interior since he is starting to do that as a side gig. It's starting to feel like a new truck again. I'm highly considering leaving the running boards off. It is significantly harder to get in/out, but I love the way the truck looks without them. If I leave them off I'll get some retractable steps for under the toolbox. After the cleaning, I decided to pop open the right rear door and start to work on it since the lock actuator and window motor were both not working. Had a window motor in the garage that I bought a while back, but it turned out to be a bad unit, so I robbed the little bushings out of a spare front motor that I rebuilt and got the old motor back up and running. I couldn't find a lock actuator for less than $300, so I just used some white lithium grease and some electrical connector cleaner and luckily it came back to life. I did accidentally bend one of the window tracks in this process, so I'll have to open it back up to pull that out and straighten it, but I was hungry and it was late so I called it a day. In a couple of weeks I'll do the left rear door. At that point I will have new lock actuators and window motors in every door in the last 2 years. But that will be nice since I have yet to have 4 functioning locks and windows all at the same time ever since I bought this truck haha. I'll post up some pictures later
Truck ran strong for a year, then the new injector cups failed. Had the machine shop install them while they had the heads. Must have screwed it up. Got new cups in and then I had an injector go bad. About done with the truck but decided to give it another chance to stay in the garage. Just installed an irate t4 kit with a s364.5sx-e and some 250/80 injectors from unlimited diesel. Fired it up for a little while and it’s sitting in the shop over night. I’ll drive it around some if I have time when I finish some customer work
Engine look great hopefully your issues are solved for awhile. I know how frustrating it gets after dealing with problem after problem.
It’s galvanized and I was too lazy to paint it lol. But thank you! It’s been a long process but I’m hoping to finally be at the point where I’m tinkering with interior pieces rather than overhauling drivetrain components lol
Now that’s real beauty! I was eyeballing those parts when I did the overhaul, if I wasn’t already drowning in the cost of the build I would have snagged some goodies like that!
