no way I could find one that price out here. Hard to find a sterling or d60 for under a grand. The biggest reason I’d want to swap the rear is for the matching track width

I was able to find a couple sterlings for under a grand. You can search car part . Com or whatever it is. Searches area salvage yards. That's what ibdid when the other resources failed me.

Yeah it seems I can find them online for under a grand, but what I really want is a roller that I can steal lots of parts off of. Want to grab all of the steering, control arms, sway bars, etc. Bonus if its a CCLB for me to steal the 38 gal front tank out of.

I'll keep am eye out if they list that chassis again. It was literally the frame, both axles with springs and wheels. I don't remember ff steering box was there or not.

If i had a srw truck I'd look into doing that. Coils may actually still be in the plans for me depending on how the new tires fit.

what size are you going to? I’m trying to decide if I should go up to 35s and stay with the 4.10s or keep the 33s and swap in some 3.73 or higher gears

I've got an odd size since it's a dually.

Is your truck an auto? Really depends on what you want your truck for. My truck is slow. It's heavy, and also a 5 speed so I'm not as worried about bogging down like an auto truck might.

My goal is taller tires so that I can lower the rpms I'm at while going down the highway. Making it quieter so you can have a conversation and maybe even a bit better mileage wise, too.

That's exactly my goal. Mine is an auto, but when the trans eventually takes a dump I'll probably put a ZF5 or ZF6 in. I daily drive the truck and use it to tow my tacoma on 1000+ mile trips, so having lower RPM or the ability to go 80mph sounds really nice

Taller tires are the easiest way to lower rpms. Obviously there's a trade off with acceleration.

Once Khan puts his new monster tires on he can hopefully give you an idea of what to expect.

285s get installed tomorrow, interested to see how it lowers my RPMs with the 4.10s I currently have. I think I'm about 2500rpm at 75 or so currently bombing down I25.

Not all of us enjoy floating down the road at 3400 rpms like Spring Man.

I have 285/75R16 right now and I sit right around 2500rpm at 75mph as well. That' why I'm considering going taller. Maybe a 35x10.5R17, not trying to get super wide

Thats an issue I found. It's hard to get a tall tire without going wider. Most 35s are gonna be 12.5 wide.

I do not care for it either. These trucks need an additional OD gear really, gotta recall were setup to pull at 55mph.

I would venture to guess you could probably get away with a 3.55:1 in a dually like mine being a five speed with an IC and modest injectors like 160/0s. You could tow in direct (1:1) around 2500rpm at 65mph to keep airflow up through engine and EGTs down. Cruise at 70mph around 2100rpm in OD (0.77:1) This is on my stock size 245/75R16

A 35x12.5 is going to be a heavy ******* too in an E code. I would guess 65-85lb/ea. My highway tread 245 E codes from Bridgestone are about 44/ea.

Did the duallies come with 245's? My SRW came with the 235/85R16 stock. Though I am a Plebeian with an F250 instead of an F350

Nope, they had some goofy ****. 215/85R16 I think. Which is 30.4"...my 245/75R16 are 30.5" So essentially negligible difference in speedometer reading BUT there are piles of available tires in the 245s. Not so with the 215s, I think there were two brands only in production.

Those 245s were OE equipment on the GMT800 2001+ 3/4 ton so millions of trucks and seemingly endless options. No rubbing, no spacers, etc. It is tight but no worries! Ideal for all street based dually guys.

Yah. Get that peasant spec F250 outta here!
