Good thing you Canadians are all rich and can afford it!! Lol.
I wish that were the case.
Yes, I forget how much more everything is there... I think 6-7 hours is high for a first time DIY’er - but if that’s what they get, whatcha gonna do??
Like Sous said, still less than a new truck payment and I’ve changed a few of those seals and transmission lasted a long time after.
Told my wife the same thing last night. It’s cheaper to fix the truck we have than to take on payments for a newer truck. I would have to go used and then who knows what your getting.
Good luck and keep us posted! Anxious to hear how you like Dan’s tunes.
If the crappy hypertech is any indication of what’s to come I think it will be hard to get the smile off my face.
So boost fooler is not needed, but is highly recommended?
It wasn't Dan I was talking to this morning but one of his technicians. He didn't say either way, recommended or not when I asked if I may need one. Just said about the map window being extended to prevent overboost defuelling.
I forgot to have you ask about WG...
Last time I asked about the WG (a couple weeks ago) they don't recommend disconnect on a stock turbo with their tunes. He did mention something about a KC ,I think, being ok but that was again not with Dan.
I will have a good Q&A session with Dan when i pick it up. Hopefully I will remember all my questions. Maybe I'll take some notes with me, like an interview or something.
I dropped it off yesterday afternoon so hopefully should hear from him tomorrow.
5 Hours for the re & re on the tranny, Not so bad.
Didn't get to have a GOOD test run on the tunes for 2 reasons.
# 1, It was raining off and on yesterday and wet roads don't work so well when trying to WOT.
#2 I forgot and left the transmission tuning from the Hypertech on the truck. Let's just say it wasn't happy with 2 different shifting strategies trying to work together, or against each other. TC lockup was way too soon.
Tomorrow I will get the hypertech shifts off the truck and let's see what happens with some dry roads.
The programmer has no effect on your new tunes.... There is no ‘stacking’ of tunes happening.
If that the case then there are some issues with his tunes that are currently loaded. Specifically the shift strategies.
Stock tune won’t shift.
40 Tow slams into second under moderate throttle.
In most tunes, if not all, just as the turbo starts to light in 3rd the tc locks up early and drops me out of the boost.
The power it has is much better and with OD off and rolling once it does light in 3rd I did see 28lbs. Not sure what tune. Less than 1/2hr behind the wheel and 6 tunes.
I did talk with Dan about it yesterday and having both tunes on the trans. He didn’t seem concerned and never mentioned that the hydra would override the PCM.
Shifted great in 00. Switched to 01 at a 4 way stop sign and it died. Back to 00 and it flashed up and got me out of there. 02 seemed hard shifts, then tons of slip. It’s bi-polar.
Going to test 04, 80hp Daily next but so far... this still ain’t right.

Picked my daughter up from work and 10 minutes to home. She asked what’s wrong with the truck.
Im sure it’s just a matter of wrong program for the PCM.
