I’m wondering why F350towing is planning to remove and reseal the driver’s side too if it’s not leaking. Am I crazy here?
Figured if the one is leaking and I’m already in there then might as well. Turns out it was leaking as well but on the bottom so I didn’t see it with the leak test soapy water.
Somewhere down in the backside of the motor, up pipe, or trans, is a 1/2 wrench.
Found out the hard way what that yellow thingie on the back of the fuel filter is..
HPOP lines... Quick Connect you say??? Special tool required to disconnect? Easy to put back on?.
1) Yep, the 7.3 is a hide and seek champion. lol
2) Sorry but that was funny! I think we’ve all accidentally bumped that little yellow thingy.
3) a-Nothing quick about it. b-yes but you can make one, I still had a horrific time with one releasing. c-no, not when the spring inside the fitting comes apart during removal which is why I mentioned a fitting rebuild.
They sell a hoses with JIC fittings like were on the OBS. This eliminates the quick connect fittings. I would go that route if replacing any of the HPO line stuff.
Note: SSJ was saying to not disconnect the line but instead turn the fitting out with line attached. Then all you would need is an oring.

Good job. I was more of the thinking if it ain’t broke..... But it sounds like you made the correct choice. I’ve sprayed mine during a leak check but of course can check the bottom side.
So I have it all back together as much as possible until the inserts and cac boots arrive.
Got all the wiring figured except for this one. I will assume this was the sensor for the EBPV and now just lays in the valley?
I don’t know that you’ll be able to snake those plenums back in all that mess without messing up the sealant.
Definitely remove the HPO lines from the heads and I recommend removing the fuel filter assembly as well. This should greatly reduce frustration levels!!
Good work, keep us posted!!
I chose to disregard all the above advice. I can only imagine how nice it must have been for the guys working on the assembly line to install the plenums.
I did 3 practice dry runs prior to placing any grey goop. Brought me back to my childhood. Anybody remember the game Operation. Bzzzz, Bzzzz, Bzzzz. All in all, it wasn’t as bad as I had feared.

Done, but wouldn’t it be better to do the fuel hose, or black tape wrap and support the line to reduce fatigue. It must shake like an SOB at 2500.

Glad you got a laugh out of that. Put it in the post for entertainment value. It’s kinda funny to me now as well, but at the moment is was more OH CRAP I gotta get that fuel off my driveway.
After trying to scrape the sealant off the plenums for 10 minutes and making a mess I figured what about a wire wheel? 2 minutes later the results were in. Somewhat apprehensive about dropping a bolt into the belly of the beast. The I have this light bulb moment. The valance is perfect. And placed in order of where they go. Top left = Top left.
I have also used the bolt holder as you have shown.
Another handy tool is a magnetic tray. Shoot I’ve gotten them for free from Harbor Freight before. I used them for tools and bolts during my T4 install to prevent the beast from swallowing stuff up.
Falling back on my naturally aspirated roots I was looking at the inside of the Spyder. That is one gnarly looking casting.
I understand that we’re dealing with compressed air not a vacuum draw but wouldn’t that benefit flow from some smoothing, or would I just be wasting time.
I polished my spider using ball hones once. It was shiny like a mirror when I was done. Probably gained 1/10 or possibly 2/10’s of a HP!! You can likely get more performance from stickers and certainly more by adding CHROME!! Lol.
That said, go for it!! It wasn’t that bad to do and it did look good!
I also smoothed the outside down before painting it. Because I KNEW I’d benefit from that since I could at least SEE it.
