Well that’s definitely one thing that’s better about the 6.0. I guess IH learned a few lessons from some of the stupid engineering on the 7.3. The 7.3 also just has huge *** cylinder head with big *** valve covers. I do like the traditional rocker box design of the 6.0 better. I guess I learnd something new this evening. The 7.3 is ultimately easier to work on but I think that’s mostly because it’s a much simpler design and don’t have the emissions stuff such EGR and cooler and the VGT.
i kinda dont like the rockerbox design... least when it comes to the rockers themselfs... the head bolts/studs are what hold the rockers down along with 2 smaller screws... so to change them out you have to pull the head studs/bolts (bolts or studs depending on if you upgraded from the tty bolts to the studs) to pull the rockers... which means then you have the chance of the head lifting and needing to change the head gasket... i wished those had been seperated... plus that then means you have 3 seals to deal with too... HG, RB to hear then the valve cover top gasket... what annoys me on mine is that top one keeps leaking on the driverside.. cant get it to stop...
Cut 2 seams in the pad today, and peeled back the forms, they're supposed to be here tomorrow afternoon to install the building. I'll be working tomorrow morning then heading home at lunch to be here for the install.
Spent 5 hrs today weed and feeding the front 3 acres of the 5 acres.. then hand spread some some lime in places where i got moss growing instead of grass.. hoping once it works in i can get grass to grow there...
after that i started working on another project.. got the boards cut for that project...
when you gotta drill 2 holes in 3 identical pieces of wood... work smarter.. not harder...
i then beveled the edges with a router for the first time using one of those... that was kinda fun...
after doing all the beveling i stained and sealed all the boards with a honey gold sealer stain... the bottom board there is just for a before after comparison to the ones i stained... tomorrow ill flip them over and seal/stain the other side...
So during the move to NC my grill ended up losing some of its planks.. was not happy about that since it was pretty new at the time.. somewhere between VB and Norlina a couple of the planks departed from my grill never to be seen again
So decided to do something about it finally..
now its got some new planks... not as wide as the ones that were on it before.. but they look better to me.. need to get a couple more hooks for the utensils since they went with the planks that flew off somewhere... but other than that it looks great... might pull the lids handle to sand and do the sealer stain on it so itll match the planks too... that or just buy a new piece of wood and cut it to match... dunno yet.. lol the thermometer in the lid doesnt work anymore either... its always full of water and even when its not got a fire in it the thing reads like 200 all the time..
Well we went racing this weekend, I may have "Sent it" a little to hard. After the 4th back to back pass (2 for me, 2 for the wife) Somethings came unglued....
After catching air, the driveshaft over extended, but turns out it also broke a motor mount which made the fully unloaded suspension even worse. Guess I'll get it in the new garage sometime next weekend and see about getting it fixed.
No doubt, the driverside valve cover is about 4" higher than the passenger side.

I wish someone made solid mounts for it, but I didn't see any. My buddies over at LEB said he could, but he would be a couple weeks out on them because he is wrapped up currently.
I got some fluorescent lights given to me today. I decided I'm going to put LED tubes in them and do away with the ballast, supposed to be brighter and no flicker. I've got 2 4' and a 2' setup, that should light up the building a little bit.
@77mud I think I have some florescent lights that we aren't using. I'll check and get back to you. (yeah I also wanted to try out user tagging as well).

It worked lol I got a email about it earlier at work.
I'm pretty anxious to get the power done out there and try out the LED florescent tubes. They are 28w 6000k lights, so I feel like they should light the building up nicely.
got mums exhaust all welded up for her car... only problem right now is we cant seem to get the gasket that goes between the pipe from the cat and the pipe going into the resonator...
