Getting Ka'Bluey's carb kit ordered today, the power valve is leaking right on top of the intake manifold.
We're hoping to get him to the shop here in town that Tim works at by the end of this next week and get those tires on there, then state inspected. Then off to the license office for some plates, and finally after two years he'll be road ready!
There's just "too much month at the end of the money".
Borgeson steering shaft for the f250 came in, and the metal thermostat housing came In for the sport Trac. Hoping to do both soon. Then need to recharge the a/c in the sport Trac, the f250 still does 40 degrees on the thermometer in the vents, hasn't been charged since last year.

Apparently it's cut to fit length wise. Stock shaft compressed is 16", uncut borgeson shaft compressed 26". Length on truck is 18.5", I cut the Borgeson shaft down so compressed it's 17", it'll extend out 6". Very heavy wall tubing. Need to drill a hole for the screw, paint it and toss it on. I'll let you know how it does.
I've noticed the idi turns tighter now with the reman box. Tires scrub on the springs turning to lock either way, they didn't used to hardly at all.
It takes r134 like everything else, system has pressure, it's probably a really slow leak all our vehicles have except Moms 2010 explorer.

what i really hate about r134a.... smaller molecules that seem to always find a way outta the systems... never had that problem with R12... and both are just as harmful to the environment.. granted i have the license to buy the R12... its just so expensive its not worth it... only thing that seems to be able to keep the R134a pressure in the system is the truck so far... in the time ive had it ive only had problems with the system once... and that was because the compressor seized up and snapped the shaft... tech said i was lucky the pulley stayed on because the retainer bolt was gone.. along with half the clutch... since they fixed it i havent had any problems with it...
Now the mustang?? that things a different story.. just about every summer i have some kind of issue with it... sometimes every couple weeks...
Yep, I too heard of a new refrigerant coming down the line. I know the one ton shipped with R12 and now has 134 in the system.. well had. It leaks pretty fast. It's real low down on the list to get fixed as it has wing windows. I assume the newer truck is still 134, but actually haven't looked.
I did finally get the chassis ground wired up. The gauges and lights aren't dimming out as bad as they were. Next I think I'm going to dig around to see if it's supposed to have a firewall to intake ground strap, as there is one in that general location that has one end hanging loose. Little details to keep me busy.
Then it's trying to get it aligned. According to Wesley, his alignment rack isn't long enough. So string and tape (that should be fun) or find someone else who can do it.
We're still chugging along here. Just finished rebuilding Ka'Bluey's carburetor. He fires right up, and no fuel leaks, but still some tweaking to do though. For the last couple of years that we've had him back I've noticed that the cooling system has pressure in there QUICK. Just minutes after starting the engine (cold) there's pressure in the radiator. No oil/coolant mixing, but that doesn't mean there isn't a head gasket issue. He's also ready for timing chain and gears, I poked around there when I changed that old fuel pump out. He's added to our insurance, and should get those tires mounted and inspected next week. I'm getting stoked fellers!!!

Unk Bob
I thought you were just planning on replacing that tired engine when it went KaBluey?
Did a little bit of wiring on the one ton tonight. Didn't get as far as I would have liked but got some of the wires I needed to run. It's been an exhausting week with not much time in the shop happening.
Spent some time in the building doing some wiring, had little issue with switching the fluorescents to LEDs. 1 kinda takes power/neutral from only one end, the ones I bought have power at 1 end, and neutral at the opposite. Got that fixed and said let there be light.....
I plan to build me a new work bench tomorrow, and then get Mrs blue in to get it back race ready before Ol' Blue gets pulled in to continue its revamp.
Watched some F series get sold for the crusher today at an auction, I managed to save this wrecker.
Year? best guess is later 70s but I've yet to get at the chassis with a wire brush to find the VIN.
She's a 400 with a manual floor shift. Not sure if this is next years project or the year afters.

That shop looks like a slice of heaven, nice lighting.

nice looking save there.... i wish more people would appreciate the older vehicles instead of just throwing them away for something new that doesnt last half as long..
