Well did a little work Monday, new exhaust hanger on my 01, new winch switch on the 800, tinkered with Ol blue a little.... unfortunately looking like the head is going to have to come off the driverside now 🤦♂️
Then moved over to the trailer, got to do a wheel bearing because I was careless and didn't pay attention to the dust cap going missing which resulted in a dirty/dry bearing. So while taking that apart I realized it also had very worn out equalizers on on the leaf springs. So I ordered new wheel bearings, dust caps, and new equalizers/shackles/bolts for the suspension.
I didn't notice the equalizer due to it being tucked up in the hanger until I jacked up the trailer. Needless to say it was way past time to replace it.
John, I have a ez-up don't remember the size now, if you want to brow it. a little shade is a lot better than working out in the sun.
Let me know and I can drop it off one day.
Larry, you found that just in time.
Wonder if you drill and install a grease fitting if that would help?
Many years ago I had to do shackles and bolts on my car trailer but the center pivot was good.
I need to check mine the next time I do the wheel bearings.

Yeah got me to thinking after Josh said that, I do have a 10x10 canopy in my garage packed up in the corner. I still think inside the garage will be a bit cooler and better though. What I really need is a carport, because the cars just get baked sitting in the driveway in the sun. But it's ridiculous how much they want for a one. Makes me think I could build one for half that, and of course then I remember I already have 5 ongoing projects and the last thing I need to do is start building a carport right now.

I'm not sure if it would form not, I saw some bolts with grease fittings for the shackles. But they all seemed to be for like 1-2000 pound trailers. This trailer is a 14k pound trailer... so didn't want to chance it.

At first I was also thinking of the bolts with the fittings and then just like you not strong enough.
That is why I was thinking if you drilled and tapped a hole in the pivot (the part you pictured) for the grease fitting you could get grease in there and not hurt how strong the part is.
I don't think there is much you could do for the shackles / links where they ride on the bolts because they are so thin or the spring & bolt but I have not seen that bolt wear like the ones with the shackles.

Well you will just have to get the truck to move under its own power so you can swap it and the Mustang or the Luv (when it get running) around to work on the truck.

I have needed a building and carports for years. Permits and grading always turn me away from them. All of my cars (except for the Chevelles),, the boat and camper, sit outside. I have the land to do it.
The best spot I have for one is where the builder put my leach field.

I built myself a little workshop a few years back. This was the last spot I had on my property. I have 1 acre, swimming pool in the back yard, then my leech field. In the front yard, I have to maintain a "repair" area for the leech field, in case it ever fails, not that I would want to build something in my front yard anyway. Across the road from me is the end of a farmers field and the pole shed where he parks his equipment, I would love it if he cut off 1 acre and sold that to me, then I could build a shop across the road - our driveways even pretty much line up.
I can't find a recent picture, this is from 2014 when I was still in the process of building it. It is big enough for 1 small car - currently has a Chevy LUV in it.
Got my frame pieces painted with the color coat and cleared. Color is done in whats called Jet Black. Had to do it with an air brush as the touch up gun was burning through the paint like crazy.
Thought id be ready to put the engine back in too. But didnt realize i only had one of the engine mount brackets ready for paint. Need to clean up the rest for paint and get them done. But not much left before i can start reassembly.
Shawn that's a neat little setup you got there, I didn't notice before. Like a tent or something, keep the bugs & critters out?
Josh that is a good size building you got planned, I assume concrete floor?
Excurvelle I sure didn't expect you would need a permit for a carport, since it's not a permanent structure and it doesn't touch the house.
Dave as soon as the LUV is out of the workshop, I need to move my daughter's 66 Mustang in and get to work on it!

its a popup tent...with the add on screen netting i bought to keep the bugs out when i worked outside... frames still good (little twisted from a wind storm when i had it up for the headgasket job on the truck) but the tops so old now its ripping to shreds... i like the screen addition to it because me and bees do not get along... they wont leave me alone and i dont wanna be stung... the frame the bike frames hanging from is from an old car port dad bought for here at the new house... but the hurricane force winds that always seem to blow across the property had fun with it and turned it into a cannoli... took me hrs (multiple... it went up in an hr) to take it apart that day so i could mow... so pieced some of it together so i could make that frame to hold the bike frame...
Got to work on the trailer today. Replacing the equalizers and shackles. Fund that one of the hangers were cracked also so had to weld it back on. Also got that wheel bearing replaced. Should be ready to go now for next weekend hopefully.
