do you live in carteret county? What part, I’ve got a house out on Harkers Island. I’m always looking for a fishing buddy when me and the ol lady go down on the weekends. I know off topic but was curious.

I’ve got a 24’ Grady white boat. I like going offshore for mackerel, tuna, Mahi mahi and billfish. Me and my guys from work usually go a few times a year as well as my nephew and uncles. When the ol lady goes with me my fishing boat turns into a sun bathing and swim platform.

Got them painted blue now. Found a few spots that the primer was still showing through. Tried to get them all covered before i ran out of paint. Which the cans now empty so i hope no spots show up again.

Did you see that clist ad I posted? Didn't know if you needed any fenders or not.
Sorry little late getting this.
I don't know if I seen the CL post or not. Sometimes I give a look thru but the last time I really looked at CL I bough my 81 F100 project truck, don't need another.
Thanks I am good on fenders, I have the nose off my project truck as I used the nose from the parts truck.

Did somebody say fishing? I can do that. Heck my build thread has a picture of a fish in it somewhere. Not to crash this post, but Harkers Island as I remember it is beautiful, haven't been in quite a few years, but have always wanted to get back there. Anyway, if you ever want to talk fishing, or go fishing, I fish pretty much all over the state in both fresh and salt water. Favorite fishing is for red drum. I have a micro-skiff that I primarily use to burn around inshore for reds, trout, flounder, etc., and during the cooler months, I'll use it for crappie and perch fishing. Also have two kayaks for fishing rivers. And I also dabble a bit with surf fishing when the opportunity presents itself. I have even noodled catfish once. So really the only thing I don't do regularly is off shore, (I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid enough to attempt taking a 15'6" micro-skiff through an inlet to the ocean). I've been trying to go off shore for Mahi, with a Capt. but weather keeps messing things up. Scheduled 4 trips with him, only been out once. Oh yeah, and I have a Ford truck too.

The Sport Trac is running again, has 180 psi of compression on 4 cylinders,170 on 1 and 185 on the last, runs smooth, has a tapping noise that sounds like the front timing chain, but that's all new, may have to break in. I'll figure that out later, but no shaking, no codes and no smoke. Spent Friday afternoon, all day Saturday and Sunday getting it back in. Duke was supervising.

Yup born and raised in Carteret county. I'm in the western part of the county though. Live just off hwy 58 in Stella. I'm within 3-4 miles of Jones and Onslow counties.

Well spent some time this weekend and tinkered on trucks finally. Got "Mrs Blue" up and running with only some fresh gas.

Started pulling Ol' blue apart to make a few changes and address some issues with the rear end. Got the bed pulled off, the pressure washed the rear frame rails real good before I started working on it.

Today I used the cherry picker to lift the *** end of the truck up and pop the leaf springs/shackles out. Then I cut the rivets holding on the rear hanger and knocked those off. I'm doing a shackle flip back there using hangers from Bronco graveyard.

The shackle flip will net me about 4.5" in the rear end, so then I plan to remove the factory blocks which will drop it back down around 3". My Hope's are for it to handle the bumps a little better, and also hopefully be able to plant power with the new engine. I'll also be building a set of traction bars to go with the setup to make sure I don't have axle wrap issues. I ordered the joints for the ladder bars, and getting ready to order the brackets for them.

Head gaskets, head studs, and rocker arms showed up to the guy doing my heads last week. Heads are hopefully going to be out of the machine shop from getting the valve job by the end of the week. Then I'll have to load up the short block and head to SC so we can put the cam in, bolt heads on, and measure for pushrods. I also have on order a new 4 core radiator to keep the new heart cool.

Needless to say my bank account is currently smoldering.

manifolds are done in the oven...

then decided to pull the new turbo apart so i could paint the turbine side too...

unfortunately wont be blue.. but will be silver.. store didnt have the blue.. they had black silver clear and fire engine red... didnt want to do clear, black and definitely didnt want to do fire engine red... bad juju color for us despite being my favorite color...

little surprised that the vanes were smaller than my old turbo was... theyre tiny in comparison...

Sunday I worked on the bumpers adding my custom touch.
Front before

Front after

Rear before

Rear after

The green patches are where driving / fog lights will be installed in the bumper. Yes I will need to cut holes in it and make mounts for them.
I cant do the holes & mounts till I get the lights in hand, ordered the lights to night.

Thanks.
At first I was going to cut the heads off bumper bolts and weld them from the front side.
But over Xmas my brother, who does body work for a living, said to place the bolts with heads on the back side and weld from the front filling in the square holes.

Now on the front bumper I did not know if I could install the bumper if the bolts were welded in, 2 bolts go in from the front and the other 2 at about 45* angle, so I tack welded the bolts from the back side and did a trial fit.
Once I knew it fit it was weld from the front side filling in the square holes.

Once the holes were filled, the rear bumper had other holes drilled I think for the plate, I filled them in at the same time.
I then used my 4" grinder with a stone to take the welds down most of the way but not all the way. I then used a 36 grit flap wheel to take the welds down a little more then used a 40 grit flap wheel to take it down the rest and did a final sanding on the rear bumper with a DA sander think it had 180 grit paper. They are not car show perfect, as the truck will not be either.

When I get the holes cut and lights mounted I want to see if I can get them wrapped in chrome like they do cars & trucks. I just do not know what finish they have to be before they can wrap them.

They look great. I have watched youtube videos of them wrapping an entire car, they make it look easy. And they sell the chrome wrap on ebay for like 20 bucks, for sure I bet you could just spray them with primer to make sure the metal is protected and then go at yourself; trial and error! I might be doing something like that on this little Chevy LUV I have out in my shop, can't get bumpers anymore so I'll find some other bumper and cut/weld/modify it to fit.
