Official NCFTE Works Thread

I don't know if I seen the CL post or not. Sometimes I give a look thru but the last time I really looked at CL I bough my 81 F100 project truck, don't need another.
Thanks I am good on fenders, I have the nose off my project truck as I used the nose from the parts truck.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Started pulling Ol' blue apart to make a few changes and address some issues with the rear end. Got the bed pulled off, the pressure washed the rear frame rails real good before I started working on it.
Today I used the cherry picker to lift the *** end of the truck up and pop the leaf springs/shackles out. Then I cut the rivets holding on the rear hanger and knocked those off. I'm doing a shackle flip back there using hangers from Bronco graveyard.
The shackle flip will net me about 4.5" in the rear end, so then I plan to remove the factory blocks which will drop it back down around 3". My Hope's are for it to handle the bumps a little better, and also hopefully be able to plant power with the new engine. I'll also be building a set of traction bars to go with the setup to make sure I don't have axle wrap issues. I ordered the joints for the ladder bars, and getting ready to order the brackets for them.
Head gaskets, head studs, and rocker arms showed up to the guy doing my heads last week. Heads are hopefully going to be out of the machine shop from getting the valve job by the end of the week. Then I'll have to load up the short block and head to SC so we can put the cam in, bolt heads on, and measure for pushrods. I also have on order a new 4 core radiator to keep the new heart cool.
Needless to say my bank account is currently smoldering.

then decided to pull the new turbo apart so i could paint the turbine side too...

unfortunately wont be blue.. but will be silver.. store didnt have the blue.. they had black silver clear and fire engine red... didnt want to do clear, black and definitely didnt want to do fire engine red... bad juju color for us despite being my favorite color...

little surprised that the vanes were smaller than my old turbo was... theyre tiny in comparison...

The green patches are where driving / fog lights will be installed in the bumper. Yes I will need to cut holes in it and make mounts for them.
I cant do the holes & mounts till I get the lights in hand, ordered the lights to night.
Dave ----
At first I was going to cut the heads off bumper bolts and weld them from the front side.
But over Xmas my brother, who does body work for a living, said to place the bolts with heads on the back side and weld from the front filling in the square holes.
Now on the front bumper I did not know if I could install the bumper if the bolts were welded in, 2 bolts go in from the front and the other 2 at about 45* angle, so I tack welded the bolts from the back side and did a trial fit.
Once I knew it fit it was weld from the front side filling in the square holes.
Once the holes were filled, the rear bumper had other holes drilled I think for the plate, I filled them in at the same time.
I then used my 4" grinder with a stone to take the welds down most of the way but not all the way. I then used a 36 grit flap wheel to take the welds down a little more then used a 40 grit flap wheel to take it down the rest and did a final sanding on the rear bumper with a DA sander think it had 180 grit paper. They are not car show perfect, as the truck will not be either.
When I get the holes cut and lights mounted I want to see if I can get them wrapped in chrome like they do cars & trucks. I just do not know what finish they have to be before they can wrap them.
