back at it! started last saturday ,assembled the front end to see if any aligment issues. lines up pretty good. bought a gallon of furniture paint remover, was enought for the hood and right fender. so got them strip ,might if weather permits give them a shot of sand blast next saturday. to remove the surface rust. got a bit of welding to do and a few patches noting major. bad news is my young buddy is going back too school for a different trade. so he leaving in about 3 weeks for school. he will be back in 45 days for a 7 day brake so maybe then he said!
seems like theres a brown primer on the fender
no he,s a neighbour.
i,m gonna need some tips for my engine. i got good oil pressure ,going to take a compression test before disassemble. i think its got low compression. budget wise i hope reseal and gaskets, water pumps ,new rings. hoping i find no cracks! i plan adjustable valves and grind job. what gasket are better! how about crank bearings should i replace them! is the cam shaft bearing easy to do! rear oil seal anything special i can do to keep it leak free as possible. more to come!!!
It's always great that just when winter is starting to drag out, you always show up with all your enthusiasm and jump in and get a bunch more accomplished! Three cheers for Bernette!

X2. One of the few things I look forward to during the winter is updates on your build .
thanks joe! what color did you paint your inner fenders and radiator cover .
i need information on different hydrovac ! i talked to brent in ontario and he quoted me 700 to 900 to rebuilt my hydrovac. i don,t have to use the period correct hydrovac. i was thinking of installing something more available. i see different models in the 300ish range. but i,m not sure if they work with my brake system!!!

I used satin black for the inner fenders and radiator cover.
got a bit more done.hood painted inside and ready for paint outside.sandblasted the left fender grille and radiator support.
had a bit of extra paint ,not sure i will leave it blue.
started taking motor apart today . i,m going to need some advice! i check the compression ,it was from 80 to 90 lbs. theres a ridge at the top of the cylinder, but i don,t think i need to bore it. i was thinking stones and new rings. (not sure what i should use for rings). i tried to remove the valve keepers but there something that keeps it up in its groove. i was thinking of installing valve seals and a little paste grind , and then rechecking valve adjustment. hoping i stay within limits! whats the valve adjustment i should be seeing. my oil pressure was ok but i suppose i should get bearings while i,m there. inside of engine is sludged pretty bad,and the water jackets are rusted and dirty. i would need some sort of power wash. the closes engine rebuilder are 1 1/2 hrs away. so if i need i will go but unsure they are good in flatheads. didn,t see any apparent cracks so i guess its a good sign.
