finally got truck out. installed gas tank ,electric gas pomp, and hood. seat and a few odds and ends. couldn,t park in it place ( its a plastic sheet),rain today! to much water! to lengthen drive shaft i used some exhaust pipe. its only to move it around, incase i find something wrong with engine ,when i reseal it. had a strange sound in engine,i think its the old gas pomp. i used a wooden stick and the noise seems to come from gas pomp. its not a knock, can,t really explain. iol pressure cold was over 50,by the time i parked it it was around 20lbs idle.
its time to start gathering parts, for next winter . i will be repairing front suspension and steering. and helper side door ,hopefull new front and rear windsheild, maybe some paint on cab. the guy who sold me his dad truck found a picture . its bernette who,s on top of the load.
That's quite the undertaking you have committed yourself to Brian, think I'll stick to the smaller trucks. You are doing a real great job on it, nice work..

Looking good! I like the driveshaft. I have one with a top tube from a kid's swing-set welded in temporary. About 4 years ago..... Any pics of the interior?

On the '60 panel I used a short tube from a cheap jackstand with the adjustment holes in it. Sometimes you find stuff like that and the swingset that aren't normal sizes and make great sleeves and spacers for pipe this IS. Mine never look as tidy as what Bernette is showing here, but he's shown us he no stranger to welding or body work. Holy cow, this thing was nothing I would ever consider tackling and now it's like new.
started stripping this afternoon. so far i need piman arm ball is wore out. not sure on king pins they might be saved, left is tight except some minor up and down movement. right i,m not sure i know they tolerate some movement at the inspection i beleave 1/8! steering box will need attention. tie rods are solid but would need rubbers, the drag link is strange like if when the turned it with a pipewrench it squashed! brakes are ok,i got new cylinders and will get brake hoses. tommorrow i will finish removing spring leafs, theres alot of movement in the bushing. the left side spring had an extra leaf and yet it was leaning to the left. lets hope the old frame i bought comes in handy!!!
I would suggest that if you already have everything apart, you might want to do the king pins now with fenders, etc out of the way. All the rest will be new, why not those too??
