thanks joe i will be doing some test on the motors soon . got alot of stuff going on,i don,t like it when i,ve got to many different task at the same time.i guess its like a puzzle it will all come together. still working my grill bars got a nos middle bar ,i should have them close to paint soon . welded a rod around my seat it was broken in 6 places . i made brakets and bolted my hydrovac now to figure out how to plumb it !! while bondo and paint was drying i install my Hood latch.
imagine me white 66 !!! plumbed and bleed my brakes,my brake switch is leaking. i was afraid it was some chinese stuff,by mistake i order a second one. the second one is red while the one on there is black,i hope its better. i keep the old ones maybe i should put it back. or maybe install a micro switch like a the old jake brakes. i noticed my hand brake linings were not center on drum. i didin,t know you could adjust that. theres 2 bolts that adjust it up and down , and left to right. got my brake spring on i think its right ,but not sure on clutch spring !
february was a short month ! i was slowed by a cold for almost 10 days, and last weekend i had roofs to shovel were having alot of snow. i got a few hours saturday started installing my wiring . got my head light switch dimmer switch and a few odds and ends that were draging. i had checked my 2 speed lever and in my mind the high was toward the rear. now i made a few test like clutching in third gear, and it doesn,t stall the motor what ever place i select. i feel like i got it reversed the high has the lever pulled toward the back !
i never could install the butt connecters on the bigger wires ,i tried until i decided to weld the connector and seal it with a shrink. not sure whats the trick the smaller ones go together easy.
I remember doing wiring on my 41 panel. Oh boy. Took me a bit to get those connectors figured out but they work just fine. My current truck has all of its original wiring but I did have to re-do a lot of the connectors with new ones. (old material was just falling off). The joys of being upside down working on the dash wiring, Tough on the back.
the small connectors went good, but the bigger ones . i tried and tried ,ended up opening one to see how it was made, then i tried again with pliers finally got one together. but the connection felt loose. so i removed the plastic and welded, and used shrink. i completely understand about the underdash. i thought i had done Under there. i got to remove my driver side wiper motor . if you remove the stick shifter there a bit more room. its not working right. joe might end up phoning your guy. been fitting double contact bulbs on my front park light in my spare time .
I did the double contact front parking lights on my woodie and my tonner. Only got the blinkers on the woodie though. It is a HUGE improvement over cranking down the window and using hand signals. Bernette, that is an amazing job you are doing on those jailbars!
done my flasher wiring saturday . took time to do a mock up on a table. finished installing at 6.30 saturday evening and decide to install rear lights for a test. had only park no flashers. i read on the subject last night and found that you shouldn,t use the green brake wire. better to run a different one .i went and picked up my Tools today and cut the brake green wire and it works ! don,t understand why,but real glad it working. its all a mess and not all welded and tidy up. but i,m in the right direction. had planned 3 relays at first one for fuel pump, lighter and flashers. i think i,m going to remove the flasher relay no need for it and just use a 20amp fuse.
got an other good afternoon got my rear lights like 95 % done waiting on some butt connectors. made a three way with a few lights, i had been given from a good friend . he passed last year . he also gave me a heater switch that i plan on useing as a dash light rheostat. i was real happy that my second left side wiper motor works good. had to file the hole on the arm so it would fit on the 1/4 hex of my wiper motor. and removed my radiator to get it recored. i arranged transport for my radiator on monday. the shops 150 miles away. a trucker friend will bring it still got my front park lights to wire. then i will attach and loom the front wiring.
I see the 3 ton badge in the background. I have been trying to find the 1.5 or 2 ton's my self. I have a 1 ton and have seen the 1.5 and 2's but not for sale. Good progress on your end.
