Yes, we all like NEW parts, but used parts are nice too! If they weren't, I'd be out of business!!!
Trust me......I sold LOTS of LKQ (not the brand) parts when I was in the bodyshop parts business, and as long as they are good quality I don't have a problem with them.
Heck yes, I don't mind used parts, just a pain to find any here. Super dutys are rare in the yards.
Btw I've got the colors,,, red, blue, and burnt copper,,,, It sounds wierd, but the caps together looked, um, looked like something.... Lol. I will get a pic of them. I'd like to paint the covers with something clear,,, is that possible??? I'd like to have a barrier so it could be cleaned and the grime won't stain the fresh alum...
Ok,,, bed plate seal question...I'm confused because the manual says to cut the sealant from the front and rear covers so the sealant isn't pulled outta the bed plate,,, but there's nothing that says to add sealant on the ends of the bed plate seals before installing the bed plate. Should there be sealant added to the ends of the two bed plate seals before mounting the block n bed plate together??? I think I made cheezit frustrated on another post about this,,, but the bed plate isn't a place I wanna assume I'm doing it right.
WOW 60 Pages so far.
Anthony, I take it you looked in the DVD for this.
My little experiment failed and the backup did not
work when I tried it. I know I have some other tools and
will let you know when I get a good backup.
I think Cheezit was saying to use the Ford sealant and
not the stuff that you get at Autozone do to the amount
of the squish out so that you don't end up with too much
clearance between the bedplate and the block. Also when you
go to stick the pistons in make sure to protect the cylinder walls
from the connecting rod ends they will scratch bad. Some
cover over the end would help as you push it in. Then remove when
you mate it to the crank.

P.S. I thought that the flu shot was to keep you from getting it.
