Than coming back to the rented F550, I would assume reprogramming to lower HP would bring fuel savings,
Actually NOT neccesarily true.
I know since I put a programmer on my 7.3 I bet BETTER fuel economy. Another example that I went through when I was a contractor for a local grocery store chain. I was trying to convince the head of the truck dept that his thoughts were wrong on that. He though exactly like you do that turning down the HP would help fuel saving. So I convince him to let me test it. I ran run with one of their drivers, same road, same time of day (we ran together to keep out all variables) and as close as possible same load (I think there was less then a 1000lb difference) both back empty.
Now the trucks were a little different, he had a day cab vs my T600 wtih a 72" sleeper so I had the weight disadvantage there but we both were running 10spd trans, Same engine, even same year as it was setup. Both running 12.7 detriot series 60s mine was set at 470hp their was set at 370. at the end of the day filling from the same pump mine averaged a full mpg better which in this test worked out to 8 gallons difference that day.
He of coarse dismissed ti as I had more experience driving then their driver so it was cause I was a better driver
When i said i abused my vehicles now you know what i mean. I bought my truck new in 07 from left over stock and first thing i did was hook up to that trailer. I buy a truck to use not show off but i do like all the goodies though. Just got back from pricing an 2011 f 450 king ranch. By the time i got done with options the price tag was 68475. I am debating on buying that one or finding a program one with a few thousand miles for less money.
Not sure what you mean but what "I" meant by the Wonder Woman comment was that I couldn't see any pictures, ergo your truck must be invisible, like Wonder Womans jet. Jeez, don't you guys remember saturday morning Super Friends?
It appears your trying to link to an email on your google account. That won't work. You need to either upload to FTE gallery or a site like photobucket etc.
Once again you intrigued me. This time I set up an experment. My baby brother, brother in law, loaded up hay and did some racing. My brother has a 93 f150 w/ a 300 inline 6 manual. .......Not 1 single time did they get out in front of me in the 1st half mile I guess.
You can have it when God comes and get me or it falls apart. Whick ever comes 1st.
Ok, let's look at the truck with a manual that you were comparing it to..... A 300 inline 6? Seriously? That truck has 145 hp, worse gearing, no torque of any kind, etc. You were also comparing it to a 150, which does not have the low 1st gear like the 250 and up has. Not even a valid comparison to my 5.4 with a manual.
I wouldn't take a 6.0 if you gave it to me for free, so you might want to fix your will so that someone other than me gets it(assuming it doesn't fall apart first).

The difference between the mustangs 1st in a manual and automatic is not the same either. If I remember correctly there is only about a .3 difference in them. The 1st in my 5.4 is a 5.72 and the 1st in your TS is a 3.11. That is a difference of 2.61, which is a wider gear spacing than your 1st and 5th.

Actually he has that inline turboed but that's not the point. It sounded to me you was saying any thing manual will do the trick. I'm trying to look his tranny up I don't its as bad as you say. Just for my benifit. Just so happens I know where a 250 with a 3v 5.4 is. I just bet he needs to make a few extra dollars. Suit yourself the truck is still worth money. Heck I'd take and sell a chevy if you where to give it to me.
My comment about the t5 manual was in addition to that I know the differnce that I've used a few. In no way am I compairing it to mine or any other truck.
