In general, we won't for one very big reason: The V10 is a better choice for us.
I'm not saying my V10 can out-haul anyone or anything. And those here that do, well, they do have their points.
But seriously, get off that high horse and realize we don't need to agree to anything
I think this sums up the V10 side in a nutshell. And I mean that in a positive way.
Lets see, looking for a 3/4 ton truck that can tow, is reliable, and I don't like the smell of diesel. What options does that leave, gas, electric, or propane. I will assume steam power is out-dated for this discussion. Haven't seen an electric powered 3/4 ton truck yet. I have seen a few propane/LP powered trucks, but not very practical. The ones that I have seen are actually delivery trucks that are used by an LP/propane company. Don't think I would want to go across the country in an LP/propane powered vehicle. What's left, gas.
You guys with the V10's enjoy them! I will continue to enjoy my 7.3's.
If you took a V10, and spent the difference in cost between the V10 and the PSD on go fast goodies for the V10, what would you have? One fast truck!

There is no difference in price in my case. My truck averages 16 mpg, my old v 10 got 11. The difference in fuel costs alone saves me enough to do all maintance on my diesel. Not including the higher resale value i get when its time to upgrade. i average 60000 miles a year and upgrade my trucks every 3 years. the only trucks i dont pass down are the gas burners because when i get done with them the are finished.

I guess I'm a little different. I buy them used. The 97 had 116,000 on it 4 years ago, has 306,000 on it now. The 02 had 80,000 on it 3 years ago, 109,000 now. And I bet I could darn near get my money back out of it.

I just sold my 05 V10 for $17K. I paid $17450 for it 4 years ago. no lie.

Was it a salvaged total 4 years ago? I simply cannot beleive you bought a 2 year old truck for half what it cost new. Man you scored on that one big time!
Did you ever think about why so many people with 4.6/5.4/6.8s think that?
From 97-06 I drove 5.4l f150s I know all to well whay they can do. From 96 untell now Iv e drove 4.6l mustangs. They are not bullet proof.keep the gas petal on tje floor and you will find out soon enough.
The long bed 6.8 V10 are not on many dealer lots. They are in demand for those that carry a heavy load and drive a short distance. i.e. lawn service, commercial plumber, masons, etc. Hard to find any clean used 3/4 or 1 ton.

No high horse here... I have never said the v10 is worthless, it just won't outpull a psd. Yes there are advantages, like we have already discussed. But in 99% of the circumstances the psd will pull the load better and more efficiently. That is a fact.
Sandman, I am going to the Florence dunes next Saturday thru Tuesday. You wanna meet up and show me what your v10 can do? Oh yeah and we can ride too, maybe you can show me around
Good luck finding one for 10 years old V10 with 200k on odometer.
They are hard to find for sale at a fair price, but not hard to sell.

Fine, what breaks on them from lots of WOT driving?
Neither my V10 or 4.6 show any signs of giving in, other than the fact to 4.6 needs vavle stem seals. The V10 sees some hard use, but you don't even want to know about the 4.6.
