Post V-10 TRITON VS POWERSTROKE 6.0

WELL TO START OUT HERE, MY WIFE DRIVES AN 2005 EXCURSION 4X4 LIMITED ALL STOCK EXCEPT FOR THE PAINTED GRILL, PAINTED FRONT BUMPER AND REAR BUMPER WERE CHANGED TO CHROME AND I LOVE THE V-10 WHICH IS MORE SENSIBLE FOR DAILY TRIPS AROUND GRASS VALLEY, 12 MPG. I WISH IT HAD COIL OVER SPRINGS BUT 2005 WAS THE LAST YEAR FOR THE EXCURSION, TOO BAD, AS IT IS A REAL SUV. IT PULLS A 2 HORSE LOGAN SLANT LOAD LIKE IT'S NOT THERE AND GETS 16 MPG HIGHWAY.

NOW, I DRIVE A 2006 F350 KING RANCH CREW CAB FX4, 8FT BED, WITH A POWERSTROKE 6.0 AND LOVE IT AND WITH A 4000 LB LANCE 1140 IT DOES GREAT BUT THE MILEAGE IS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED AS I'M DARN LUCKY TO GET 13 AROUND TOWN AND 17-19 MPG HIGHWAY. DIESEL UP HERE IS THE SAME PRICE AS PREMIUM. IN APRIL 2006 WHEN I BOUGHT THE KING RANCH DIESEL WAS 5 CENTS CHEAPER THAN REGULAR BUT I SHOULDN'T BITCH CAUSE OUR NEW PRESIDENT WILL FORCE THE PRICE OF FUEL TO $5.00 PER GALLON BY WINTER 2011 IF HE GETS HIS WAY.

SO, I LOVE THE POWER STROKE AND THE V-10 TRITON, JUST TWO VERY DIFFERENT ENGINES. IF THE ECONOMY IN APRIL 2006 WAS WHAT IT IS NOW I MAY HAVE GONE FOR THE V-10 IN LIEU OF THE POWERSTROKE AND SAVED 5 T0 6 GRAND BUT THE DEALER KNOCKED 15 GRAND OFF STICKER PRICE SO I GOT A GOOD DEAL.

AT LEAST WITH THE POWERSTROKE I CAN FUEL UP AT APPLEBEES IF THE ECONOMY REALLY TANKS. PRAY FOR A HOUSE CLEANING NOV. 8, 2010 AS WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THE "CHANGE".

Post P NUTS DIESEL ENGINE RE VW / AUDI V-10

THE AUDI / VW DIESEL IS A GREAT ENGINE DEVELOPED FOR GT RACING, LE MANS, ETC. TOO MANY CYLINDERS FOR A TRUCK AND TORQUE CURVE IS DESIGNED FOR HIGH RPM. A GREAT ENGINE FOR ITS DESIGNED USE, RACING, HIGH RPM IN A CAR THAT WEIGHTS 2000 LBS?

NEW FORD 6.7 IS A NEW DESIGN, I MEAN NOT JUST .7 LARGER THAN THE 6.0 0R .3 LARGER THAN THE 6.4. I THINK THE 6.0 PSD IS A GOOD ENGINE BUT NOT IN THE 2004 / 2005 MODEL YEAR. FORD TRIED TO SAVE MONEY AND OUTSOURCED THE COMPUTER CONTROLS, NOT WANTING TO SPEND THE MONEY FOR THE INTERNATIONAL CONTROLLER BUILT BY CAT AND IT BACKFIRED SO THE MODULE WAS CHANGED IN LATE 2005 AND 2006.

I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY 2006 MFG. DATE 3/2006, SUCH AS
1. RECOVERY TANK SPEWING COLLANT - FIX BY FORD, REPLACE PRESSURE CAP, FIX NOT GOOD.
2. REPLACE MULTI SPEED FAN CLUTCH - FIX NOT GOOD.
3. REPLACE EGR / OIL COOLER - FIX NOT GOOD.
4. R /R HEADS NEW HEAD GASKETS - FIX WORKED, NO PROBLEMS SINCE THAT FIX AT 37,000 MILES, AUGUST 2008. THE FORD DEALER REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR THAT WENT BAD AT THAT TIME AS WELL, OUT OF WARRANTY, I PAID $165.00, DEALER PAID $165.00 AND FORD PAID $495.00 FOR THE ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT WHICH I THOUGHT WAS VERY WHITE OF THEM.

THE NEW 6.7 IS A VERY NEW DESIGN AND TOTALLY REDESIGNED WITH DELETION OF THE TWIN TURBOS THE 6.4 HAD, BACK TO VARI-PITCH TURBO FAN BLADES, OLD CONFIGURATION HAD EXHAUST VALVES OUTBOARD ON THE HEADS, INTAKES IN THE VALLEY WITH THE NEW DESIGN, EXHAUST IN THE VALLEY, INTAKES OUTBOARD WITH TURBO OVER VALLEY AREA, EASY TO PULL TURBO AS THE 6.4 REQUIRED THE CAB TO BE REMOVED TO PULL TURBOS.

IT IS NOT FORD THAT IS GOOFEY BUT EPA AND THEIR CLEAN AIR / ENVIRONMENTAL WHACCO REQUIREMENTS BROUGHT DOWN ON THE MANUFACTURES.

WHEN I REGISTERED MY 2006 KING RANCH CREW CAB 8' BED 6.0 PSD IN APRIL 2010, HERE IN THE LAND OF FRUITS AND NUTS "CALIFORNIA" I WAS REQUIRED TO SMOG IT, YES, SMOG A DIESEL, SMOG NOT LIKE A GAS MOTOR, NO TAILPIPE TEST, NO FULE CAP TEST, JUST A VISUAL FOR AFTERMARKET PARTS AND COMPUTER ERROR CODE CHECK. 59.00 WITH $15.00 DEALER DISCOUNT APPLIED. YOU GUYS THAT LIVE OUTSIDE THE STATE OF CALIF. ARE LUCKY. REARDLESS, THE TRUCK PASSED SMOG AND DUE TO THE 100,000 MILE 5 YEAR DIESEL WARRANTY BE SURE TO TAKE YOU DIESEL TRUCK TO A FORD DEALER AND NOT SOME HALF-DONKEY, JACKASS INDEPENDENT SMOG CHECK STATION IF YOU LIVE IN CALIFORNIA, THE $15.00 YOU SAVE WILL COST YOU 100 TIMES THAT.

1. Welcome to FTE!

2. You don't have to shout.

3. Watch out on the political stuff in your posts. That'll get ya a keyboard lashin'

edit -- the keyboard lashin' won't be from others who disagree with your views, it will be from mods because political stuff is against the rules around here. I'm not trying to be a jerk, just giving you a head's up.

Well.. the Walnut Creek, CA dealer dropped air box clamp inside the box when they did unauthorized 15 points FREE inspection during the 90 seconds wire recall.
Since I didn't drive the truck for few days and come to them later, all they offer me was $1800 estimate for turbo replacement.
you want something done right.....

It wasn't cussing, when you type in all caps, it's considered shouting.

As for the political stuff, nothing really bothers most of us. there are people on both sides of everything. It's just general comments. I think you also mentioned something about a "house cleaning" and enough change. But these aren't huge, but could lead to many posts about politics which causes issues.

None of it riled me up. I was just giving you a head's up since you're new. It was that simple.

I'll smog mine every year if you want to swap me insurance rates, and licensing fees. I grew up in California. Colorado is WAY more expensive to insure and register a vehicle. I'd GLADLY pay $200.00 a year to smog mine if my licensing fees would drop.

Insurance... Mine doubled when I moved to WV from Ohio. Shortly after I moved, WV was ranked as having the 4th deadliest roads in the US.
