i just want to state that i luv reving my truck to 5K plus, i freakin luv to hear it scream!
what sounds really disgusting is full throttle shifts at 3K,
i luv my V10, smooth, quiet, powerful, high reving and thirsty!
i must poke a few holes in this argument here......in your first sentence you say you love to hear your v10 scream when you rev it, but in your last sentence you say you love your v10 because its quiet and high reving. so which is it? does it scream when you rev it or is it quiet?
i can honestly say my 7.3 has only turned 3k rpm a handful of times. i cant speak for anyone else, but i shift mine at 1500 during normal driving and very rarely hit 2500 rpm when towing.

And this is why you get great MPGs! Low revs are lousy for power but great for fuel economy.
My TorqShift simply won't let you do that. Under light acceleration it likes to stay around 2,000 RPMs. While in tow/haul mode it'll go to 2,600-3,000 regularly. WOT upshifts seem to occur around 3,200. The tranny attempts to give the best driving manners and power, with fuel economy as an afterthought.
But I will say that this is still the best automatic I've ever driven before! It may make the engine rev a bit, but it's really great at keeping the engine where it needs to be to make power.

My wife has a Freestyle with one of those CVT transmissions. That is the best automatic transmission I have ever driven. No shifting and is as smooth as silk during acceleration all the way up to highway speed. It's freakin' amazing.

i only give it as much pedal as i need to in order to get done what i need done. that helps my towing mileage big time too. i towed a 69 ltd convertible to dayton last year and i got the same mileage loaded as i did with no trailer at all. i made the trip twice empty and twice with the car/trailer and i got 19 mpg every time. keeping your foot off the pedal will do wonders for you at the pump.

have you had any trouble out of yours? my father in law has about an 05 model and it had all sorts of recalls on the tranny. it's been in and out of the shop so many times over the tranny he just stopped driving it unless he had to.

It's an 06 and it has never seen the inside of a shop except when it needed an alignment.
But yours is also tuned. Stock engines are limited by the programming to protect themselves. The fastest way to get more horsepower is to increase fueling and boost higher in the RPM range.

I am not sure what all was wrong with his, but he had said it had a lot of recalls on the tranny. I would ask him what all was wrong with it, but I try not to speak to him unless i have to lol.
The real crux of the matter is that it's not the best choice for everyone.
With Ford losing the V10 in 2011 in the F250/350, and going backwards to an 8-cylinder 6.2L, they are making the choice for those who prefer the gasser.
Looks like I'm keeping my 2001 for the rest of my life
Our V10's are going to be collector item's. I go to work for a day & 4 more pages, pickin up some momentum.

are you for real, these are statements, not arguments, i have to assume that you are very young and @#%$$
i will spell it out for you, quiet when at idle or cruising, screamin when i mash it, plus, why are you taking offense to this? how does this affect you???
forgive me for stating the following, but you just confirmed my thoughts:
when i read the posts from the V10 guys, they are full of facts, logic and common sense (for the most part), and the other posts (yours included) lack all of this, is it that the V10 owners are more educated? im sorry for this, but, phillips post is soooo weak!!!! i guess your point is that my truck is loud and i said its quiet, you got me einstein! please challenge me on your next attempt. thanks.
I have to agree. Nothing wrong with letting it sing, if that's what you're into. As far as MPGs, I still think the 6.4 has an advantage over the V10. Certainly not what it once was with the 7.3, but I believe it's still there.
I've gotten 17 MPG on the highway, and I have less than 4,500 on mine. Normally will get 12-13 city. How does your V10 do empty?
yur 6.4 is doing very good, every time i ride with my buddy, his instant is at 10mpg, he did say that he managed 14mpg on a long trip and traveling at 65mph
the V10 is not know for great mileage, i have seen (just a handle full of times though) 14mpg out of my truck with a 6" lift and 35s, AC running the whole time and loaded with gear on my way to June Loop, on the streets, very low, like 9mpg, i have seen 5.6mpg when muddin in azusa canyon, i do like to spin to 5K plus when in the mud, my truck (V10) is not going to trump any diesel, but it does hold its own, i know enough to know that the diesel will take me out in most cases, diesel is better for the heavy stuff, NO QUESTION!!!!!!
