The 1805 has a more attractive case, possibly some minor changes in programming (remember, I'm not there anymore and R&D is a constant thing, always minor improvements and tweaking going on).
What's the great thing about it?
It's USB internet updateable! No more sending to sc for updates.
I told you guys it was coming, LOL...........it just took awhile.
Call superchips if you want to know all of the features.
In my final months working there, I was deep into the Cummins project, so I don't know what options ended up in the Ford tuner's final product.
This has to be one of the dumbest moves Superchips has made, pre-releasing 1805 information now. They are going to upset a ton of dealers who will be left with unsold 1704A inventory they've stocked up for Christmas....
This happened back when they changed the 1700 to the 1705, preleasing it. Sales slammed through the floor and Superchips wouldn't take back stock, forcing dealers to take a loss discounting the 1700 to get it to move. It puts dealers into a position where they don't want to honor money-back guarantees the first month of the product (on the older product) because returns of the older product shoot through the roof, with bogus excuses for returning it.

I agree they should 'wait until its out", but I never got to make those decisions...and never agreed that it info should be released ahead of time.
Since you are a dealer, I can see the predicament this can put you in.
Here's an interesting aspect that may explain (at least in part) why Superchips decided to do this. I JUST got off the phone with a Superchips rep, and he told me that they will NOT be offering any sort of upgrade path from the 1704 for several reasons.
First, they say they are NOT discontinuing the 1704 series, and second, he told me that the 1805 DOES NOT produce the same power gains as the 1704. I asked him why they wouldn't have used the same successful power mapping (thank you very much, Jim/Vic!!) that already existed on the older product, and he told me he didn't know.
...so except for the internet upgradeability I, as a 1704 owner, can't see any logical reason to spend more money and give up performance on a product that would seem to be a step backward for Superchips in the most important way...
If you call to place an order they will confirm upgrades forth comming on line to justify the step up to the 1805. I suspect they will hold off upgrades while trying to lower inventory of others on the market but no doubt the upgrade online is the way to go.......Most others already have! 1805 under the tree for me!!!!!!!
**** I bought a 1706 last months cuz I had no idea there was a 1805 comming out......
I'm guessing there is no buy-back trade deal I can do with Superchips is there?
Also is the 1805 going to be THAT much better than the 1706 for me to sell and buy?
When I buy a laptop or desktop computer I accept that in 1 month there will be something faster and/or cheaper. With technology customers just learn to accept the pace is fast. Its not like it was 20 years ago.
Besides, the 1805 is more expense than the 1704, a lot more.
