Vic,
I am curious as to what you ordered. Single rear wheel? 4:10 rear end? F350?
It looks like I will get a buyback from Ford on my 05 for extensive repetitive, engine problems. They are rebuilding or replacing my engine now. economy?
What were your extensive repetitive engine problems? Friend of mine has had numerous oil leaks from multiple areas with an 05. He's in the same situation.

I did not have oil leaks but I kept having turbo noises like light metal rubbing together when I let off on the throttle and also sometimes under a load going uphill. The noises were a lot more frequent when I had the Super chips tuner installed. I don't blame the Superchip and I will use it again. I think it just made the problem show up sooner. It eventually overheated to the extreme while pulling my horse trailer up hill and I had to stop and let it cool. Then the transmission would not shift right. It was only about a 7,000 lb load. Ford replaced some sensors and some other parts on the engine and also went into the transmission and replaced some parts. I told them that the parts they replaced was not the problem but they did not listen. The scrapping noise continued and it ran slightly hot. They replaced the clutch fan, no help. I kept telling them the turbo needs replacement. Finally the turbo exploded and they had to replace it. It still made the scrapping noise after that. I took it back and said I wanted a buyback. They tore the engine down and found some small marks on the block that looked like someone at the factory dragged the block across something and scratched it. There were four of them. The head gaskets were not blown. They ordered a new engine from the factory and I am waiting for it now. It should be a 2006 motor. I still do not think there was a significant problem with the heads or block. I still think there is something wrong with the turbo and caused the noises and the overheating. I was going to push for a new 2006 vehicle but I will probably accept the new engine and try it. I hope my superchip still works on the new motor.
Hello fellows. This is my first post, but I've been behind the scenes for a while. My question is,I have a 03F-250 6.0 with a 6speed manual.Does the superchip work well with this?I already have the apropriate flash.I have read most of this thread, but I dont believe it has been answered.BTW my truck has 81,000 miles on it with no problems whatsoever,I would just like a little more power!

Hey!
My first post in this thread as a non-superchips employee!
Wes, it works great on 2003 manual trucks.
It really helps with that lack of grunt, and extends the RPM range.
You will notice that you have to do a lot less shifting.

Pray tell, Vic ... no longer with Superchips? I hope that means you moved UP to something better, because it sounded like you had a kick a$$ gig over there!
Can Ford Service detect the SCMtuner on the 06 6.0l?
P.S. Always look forward to reading your insightful posts Vic.
They can detect it (not to mention accidentally erase it) if it's still installed.
If it's uninstalled before going to the dealer, they can not detect it.

I wondered about this. Now I've heard that under normal circumstances that a dealership using there normal diagnostics won't be able to detect a tune if it's been removed. But there's more than one data recording device in the vehicle. The other of course being the "black box." Now here's where I wondered. If Ford themselves were to access the black box, would they be able to surmise that a turner had been installed? Based mostly on any data about a particular system that had exceeded its factory programming parameters. For example, looking at the top speed. The factory program limits the top speed to 99mph. But a tuner can bypass that. Just a thought, since try as I might to find out what exactly that data recorder does, stores, etc, no one seems to have the answer. The Owner's Guide simply says it records data about the engine and other control modules. Hmmm. . .
