Dear Vic Or Someone Who Will Give Advice,here Is The Story. I Have A 04 With A Magna Flow Turbo Back Exhaust,airraid Air Box. I Have Had Truck In Three Times For This Coolant Problem. The Several Dealers Have Told Me To Drop The Coolant Level And This Will Solve The Problem. I Know This Is A Load Of Crap!! One Time The Delership Pushed My Truck Right Back Into The Parking Lot And Said My Warranty Was Void Because Of The Exhaust And Air Cleaner. I Had To Put My Factory Exhaust On So There Was A Converter On The Truck. Once This Was Done They Told Me The System Held Pressure And Asked If I Had A Chip In The Truck. Of Course I Said No, And The Truck Didn't Have Any Signs That That There Was. I Made Sure Of That. The Other Two Times Was Almost The Same Story, It Held Pressure And They Couldn't Get It To Do It. It Blows Out Coolant Very Little When In Stock Mode And You Need To Be At Wot. I Have Spent Countless Hours Going Through Threads To See If I Can Figure This Out. The One Conclusion I Have Come To Is That There Is A Problem With The Head Bolts And Gaskets. I Know Ford Knows There Is A Problem With This, But Would Like To Void Warranty's Instead Of Taking Care Of This. So The Question Is, Am I One Of The Few People That My Moter Is Boardline Week Enough That It Cant Handle The Extra Power? And How Do You Handle A Dealer That Automatically Thinks You Have A Chip In It?

Smile edge evolution

<HR style="COLOR: #666666" SIZE=1>

hello, i just programed my 03 6.0 powerstroke with the edge evolution, i have no other mods ,at this time..anyway i tryed tunning with the first setting (60hp) drove it.. it was ok so i tried the max setting 100hp. i know not to do this with out exhaust mods, gauge,etc just want to drive it once to test. anyway wow.
but with both i was using the monitor on it to see temp(does not due exhaust) and boost,etc now i see that the turbo back pressure is about 15-17 at idle and i got it up to 52 ..i think... now that is not the boost is it ??(-the 15 ?) because i dont see how it can have 15 or so at idle ? i hope not i heard you dont want you boost over about 30-32 on stock engine. so if it really went that high i hope i did not blow gaskets anyway ..more info from some one how knows more please
chad
p.s. i did put it back on tow mode.. and under hard take off it feels like it has a little bit of a mis fire going on at about60mph ...little bit of surging and turbo fart at first.. did not surge the first time i programmed it. ?
I do plan on doing a cat delete soon, and exhaust gauge (this year)

1. Do what they said. Lower your coolant level a little.

2. As for the chip, deny!

Depends on the truck, gear, weight, load, most of all DRIVER.

Try all 3 and see which gets best economy for your driving style.

I have lowered the coolant in the past like they said and it pretty much takes care of the problem in stock mode. It's a whole different story with the chip installed. There is 73000 miles on the truck now and I am concerned that there is an underlying problem that will show up when the warranty is over. But, how does a guy tell the dealer it pukes very little with the coolant level lowered and alot when it's producing a little more power with a chip. It seems like my moter is just strong enough to handle the stock program and nothing more. I would like to run this truck for a long time but have the feeling it will let me down in the long run. I know some will say,dont chip it if you want it for the haul,but i have owned a 7.3 and you could do almost any thing to those. Plus, not to mention the 40,000 dollers spent on the truck.

Received my SCMT today and installed the economy tune as the exhaust I ordered hasn't arrived yet. All I can say is HOLY Doo Doo!!! (Edited by Moderator) Baby has never moved like that. I really hope to be able to contain myself so as to improve MPG...but I doubt it.

Since you seem to have the knowledge to answer most questions here............ have you any information on the new 1805 flashpaq? Is it any improvement over the 1706 or should I just buy the 1706? It seems from what I read it is internet update friendly that may be a plus!

Funny you use caps on every word.

Anyway 90% of the time it is your EGR cooler causing the problem, 10% of the time you have a blown headgasket. Try dropping the coolant under the MIN line and if it still pukes go back and get it fixed. If you chip it your EGR cooler will always be a problem unless you "FIX" it.
