If "Sonic Blue" is Ford's equivalent of Royal Blue, then your car was identical to my buddy's (assuming you had a drop-top). Royal Blue is my favorite color ... I think it looks great on just about any vehicle!

Good Fun!!

Steve
They only came in sonic blue in 03, so it's the same color.
Mine was a hardtop (lighter, more rigid).
Once you start adding pulleys to yours and go drive a stock one, they feel SO SLOW stock. The difference is ridiculous.

A friend and I are thinking about putting a project together using an 03 cobra engine. If it happens, I'll post it in modular fords forum. Can't say what it is yet!

Today I sent the 1704 back to SC and paid for the update so I can use it on my 2005 6.0. I am curious to see how it will work on this truck. Will the 1704 still work on the 04 after the update? I wonder if the wet wheel spin issue will change. (not blaming the tuner at all) My right foot is to blame!
I am now looking for something else to use on my 2004. Don't know if it'll be a tuner or a fuel box. Whatever I do this go around I am going to get guages of some sort whether they are analog or something digital like the Edge has in its display.

Thumbs up

Got the tuner back today. Loaded it in my 05' tonight. I'll see how it goes tomorrow while running around for work. One thing I noticed is that when the SCMT box is loading the tuning files, it loads into the 05' about 5 times faster than going into my 04'.

Can a 1704 be upgraded for a 2006 MY? Is there any way to clear the CEL as a result of disconnected EGR? permanently?

It loads faster because the PCM in the 05 is different, faster.
The 03-04 Internal flash processors really have no way to flash that fast.

3100 miles on my '06 250 4x4 cc. Needed to take it to the dealer for some minor cosmetic stuff (interior) and a Lube/Oil/Filter. Been running performance since 500 miles and tow safe when I tow. Switched it back to stock on Tuesday morning and checked for DTC's right away. Saw the p-1000 code. Drove like a granny all day around town to appointments and such. By the time I got home at the end of the day and read codes again, the p-1000 was gone. Took the Truck in Wed and had the work done, not one word about the MBRP exhaust or anything else. There was a guy in an Excursion diesel there with a 6" lift, wheels tires, 5" exhaust and who knows what else. He was getting some basic service as well. Told me our particular dealer was pretty mod friendly.

Just got truck back from dealer after getting lastest update 05E15.........loaded in ECONOMY program and to my surprise it loaded.......tuner didn't require update.....but truck was different after update........shifts where very soft not firm at all.....truck made a clunking noise when letting off throttle after a hard pull..........truck didn't seem to drop down a gear when stepping hard on throttle to pass......has only else experienced these symptons.........also any else been able to plug tuner and tune truck after lastest recall 05E15 without sending tuner back to SUPERCHIPS? ...Called Superchips and was told to load it a couple times and try again........which l did and symptons where the same......

Ford may have given you a de-tuned stock file.

Leave the SC tune in for a few days and see if a firmer shift develops and the shifting cleans up.

If it doesn't, call superchips for an RA explaining symptoms.
They may have to build a special calibration for your particular hex codes.

I can't read through 120 pages to find out a question. lol.

1. Is this programmer a plug in/download/remove unit.

2. Would a bigger exhaust help egt on the different settings.

3.Would a bigger exhaust up hp on settings. (not that I want more, just wondering if you add a bigger exhaust do you need to slightly lessen the fuel input?) same with intake?

4. Where are you guys finding the best prices on this chip. Is the link at the beginning of this topic the sponsor of the site or the product in general. Meaning I don't want to **** anyone off if sponsor is selling these items at his store.

1 - Yes
2 - Yes, a turbo back down pipe will maximise your EGT reduction
3 - Yes, it will with the exhaust, but not by a whole lot though, the stock 6.0l intake however has shown to be pretty darn good (as in I wouldn't bother changing it in your instance)
4 - Here is a list of our sponsers that sell tuners (if I missed anyone I am sorry)

Is there any difference in the 1704 than the 1704-A. What are they and will a 1704 reprogrammed to a 1704-A be any different than an off the shelf 1704-A. I have an 05 f-350 and got a turbo back exhast but only did cat-back for now. Know someone who went from an 04 to an 06 so he cant use it and is willing to sell me it for cheap. Mine is a CC LB lifted 5" on 35" tires. Dealer wants $90 to change for tire size. Will this do it? I will eventually be towing a 15k trailer and want to make sure this is my best option. SCMT vs SCT. Only mods will be exhaust gauges and tuner, nothing else. Thanks.

Eric, the SCMT won't do it. Only the dealer can, superlift tru speed and gear swap. The 1704 will yield more power on an 04 than a 1704A will on an 05 just because of the motor set up. Either way you will have reliable power that will increase mileage and BSEG factor.

1704 will not work on an 05
It must be a 1704-A

If you have the dealer change your tire size, then install the 1704-a, the 1704-a will retain the changes the dealer made to your gear/tire calibration. =o)

By the way, 05 and 06 have a different piston design (lower compression), so the gains aren't as large. The 1704-a vs 1704 simply indicates that it contains 2005 calibrations. The 1704 supports only through MODEL YEAR 2004
