Looking good Cleatus. Even though I am not sure what I am looking at. 2wd ibeam delete to leaf springs?
Throwing the ridiculous fecal abortion Twin I-beam in the trash where it belongs. Monobeam from 2wd F450/550 going in. I've been wanting to do this to this pickup since 2011 but it's not my first rodeo with this joke of a suspension setup.....the first one got fixed by plopping the 1973 body on the 2002 4WD frame/drivetrain.
I'll second (third, 4th, or what ever its up to now) no need to be embarrassed. I'm not as well versed in anime as some here apparently (I'm not at all) but I do watch a plenty of it as well. Better than most of the live action dramas and reality shows that pass for TV over here. Better story, better characters, better plot, even the recycled story lines have show some creativity.
Thanks! I agree! I think they are better than a lot of the modern stuff.
I don't talk about watching anime either, mostly because I'm not very vocal, but am regularly surprised by the number of guys around work I hear talking about it.
Damned fine work you are knocking out on the truck too.
I was surprised there was as many of you on these forums that watch it! Thank you very much!
WooHoo!!
Tristan your truck is the snizzle wizzle. Tell Dad his weld looks good from here. LOL
Wish I could see the look on customers face when you say " Oh sorry for delay yesterday, I made my 2WD truck a 4WD over the weekend! ". Just few minor setbacks that I needed to overcome yesterday.
Great job and I am proud of you. Your determination is awesome. Many would have thrown in the towel. I would have thrown towel in until spring weather. LOL
My dad worked on a 310ft fishing boat that was 8 stories tall! Its gigantic. He was the main night shift welder for 5 years! He's really good at welding! It's been a long time since then but it still looks good!
Their face is gonna be great when they hear that!
Thanks you sir! I wanted to make sure I drive up to Georgia next month in a swapped truck no matter what!
If you park down by the creek again, you should have a much better time getting up the rocky hill. Get it on the first run instead of third and be all smiles by the time you get to the pavement.

Well, I still don't have a transfer case so, technically I could still have some fun! But I will try my best to get it on the first shot!
Also Sous, you wouldn't happen to know the part number for the k&n filters you use by any chance would you? I heard somewhere that the new FL 1995 A filters are cheap. It just so happens that those are the only motorcraft filters I can buy anywhere near me anymore. They suddenly got rid of the old stuff. Do you agree with the whole new filters suck thing? I know you use k&n so you wouldn't know from experience but, have you heard anything? I can buy rotella filters at tractor supply for the same price I pay for the motorcraft filters. I don't need to change my oil for a while yet, and I still have one more filter but, I'm just getting ready!
I agree about the no need for embarrassment thing. Trust me, we all have things that we think others may cringe at. It’s our differences that make us each unique and a great combined team. Just be yourself. The community here at FTE seem to be a very accepting bunch. They’ve put up with me for a while now!
I don’t know anything about anime, but slightly related my kids like some Japanese cartoons. I’ve watched Ponyo, Spirited Away, and Howe’s(?) Moving Castle with them.
I can’t believe all you accomplish and how quickly you get it done. I would have threw in the towel and waited for warmer weather. I’m glad your multiple votes outnumbered mine!
Looking good. Now just find a transfer case and throw that in there. Probably and afternoon job for you! 😂
I am curious about fuel mileage though. Not that it matters because, you know 4x4 is where it’s at. Totally worth any loss in mpg in my opinion. But maybe come back in a few weeks and let us know how bad it’s effected the fill ups?

Tristan, I use the HP-6001 white K&N oil filter. I use this style filter on all of our vehicles after doing a fairly thorough amount of research. I really like the 1" nut welded on the end. Although, they are pricey for a premium filter, when I can get a deal on them I will buy a couple or a few at a time. Nothing wrong with being prepared and I always say "failing to plan is planning to fail".
I have never used a Motorcraft filter, so I have no experience with them. A recent thread about the new design surfaced again today and I have linked it below.
I kinda figured it was your gamer name or something.
Here ya go @Sous you can start practicing now, but verify with Tristan at the GTG. https://youtu.be/UU1cfZR3Dr0 That is indeed how you pronounce it!

I kind of like the lift! And the truck sits level, well it's only off by a half inch anyway!

I don't know how I feel about the transfer case yet. Don't you have to remove all the gears off of the output shaft to change it? I don't know if I want to do all that. If it was just, pull the gears out and change the part out it would be different. But actually taking gears off of the shaft and dismantling them, I feel a little, as I said before, under tooled. Mainly because they are all press fit/heat fit.
Overall I don't think I will lose much in MPG. Considering on my last trip to Georgia when I was heading up to Joel's house I made somewhere between 850 to 1,000 miles on one full tank and $50. The full tank was 31 gallons. The $50 got me 14 gallons for a total of 45 gallons. I got around 19 miles to the gallon (if not more) with the axle in the back of the truck, along with seats, door panels, and all the other goodies that Joel gave me. Unfortunately, because I still had fuel when I got home, I kind of lost track and quit paying attention. I may have gotten more than 19 miles to the gallon. But that is a safe assumption.
My average has been 650 mi driving around my town to a full tank. Some of that is pulling a trailer. A small 6x12 tandem axle trailer that I use for my lawn equipment. So it doesn't usually have more than 3,000 lb on it. My big lawn mower weighs 2500 lb, I don't usually have to use it as much as I have to use my small mower in smaller yards. I will check it again and I will definitely keep you up to date on that!
Find a complete transmission/transfer case assembly. There is no heating or press fit stuff in the transmission but you do have to change the output shaft which is a 95% teardown of the transmission.
Then you have to figure out if you want to wire in the 4x4 and low range lights since your 2wd will not have that stuff in the harness. The shift boot, linkage, and lever are the easy part.

Actually my truck has the 4x4 wiring already I believe. The transfer case sensing wire is on the cross member capped off. I had it fall on the drive shaft and cross into the reverse wires and the 4x4 light kept coming on and off. I have it out the way now. I hate that. My transmission was rebuilt like 20k miles ago.

I know what my thoughts are and hope you are able to make a decision based on the words and images in the thread.
I don't like the way the inside of the new fl1995-A looks. It looks cheap. I'm not going using them. I will try the k&n filter when I use my last motorcraft. Other than that, the only brand around that I can buy near me is rotella. I might use and cut open a rotella and see how I like it. It's about the same price as the Motocraft. If I do, I will report my findings!
