It bodes well for you that you don’t watch enough TV to know what Cody and I were referring to. It’s from a show called Forged In Fire where bladesmiths from around this great country compete for a prize of $10,000 and the title of Forged In Fire Champion (sic).
Funny thing is I don't watch, nor have I had TV since 2001 when my first college roommate moved out. Tugly introduced me to FIF a couple years ago while I was visiting....I watched half a dozen episodes and that's it.
I have this memory though that will not let me forget useless information. Ask me about music sometime........
I’ve had better luck with the autoparts steering gear than Sous had. I say run it until you can afford a better one, then upgrade.
Get parts store to price match online pricing. The minimum ‘discount’ you should be able to get at the counter is 30%. No need to mention your core is 2wd.
You can swap the pitman arm you bought for the one you need, right?
I guess the 4wd donor steering gear and pitman arm went to scrap?
You are probably going to want to add blocks under the rear springs to bring the back up slightly higher than the front end will be. Probably 2” (F250) blocks. Did you harvest them from donor?
How fast do you need a gear? I have two. One I never sent back after blue top install(took me forever to get around to install it) that is low mile but seemed to have a slight rattle in it in a left turn after the po was forcing turns with a seized ball joint. The other is from the parts truck. It had a remanned sticker on it, never drove it, but the pitman arm turns smooth by hand. It is a bit rusty.
Both are 32 spline e99 4x4
Not sure if you wanna try one or just go to parts store.
Also should have rear axle blocks ssj mentioned. Would have to look. Not sure if they would be the 2” or 3.75” ones, been too long

I scrapped the donor steering gear due to the front end damage. I didn't trust that it was safe to use..
Tristan took the blocks from the donor rear axle so he won't have to squat.

I never watched much TV but, my sister and I used to always watch an episode of supernatural before going to school in the morning! I will have to go to YouTube and check out forged in fire myself!

I'll try that then!

I bought it online so, I doubt it.

Yep. We couldn't use it anyway. We were using vice grips to turn the steering to move the truck around. With no cab on it it was kind of hard to have a steering wheel hooked up to it but vice grips worked well!

The blocks that were on the 250 that Joel and I disassembled were 4 in lift. I also got the rear shocks as well because they are longer than my current ones.

I can see that about you. I, on the other hand, am capable of forgetting the name of a family member I chatted with 10 minutes ago.

Don’t start! You are making good progress on your projects.

Technically I'm supposed to be at a job site tomorrow. I don't know that that's going to happen but, I'm going to try. But that means auto parts store better have one! I have the 3.75-in ones. That's what was on Joel's parts truck so, that's what's going on mine!
This story would have been perfect at the gazebo about the time Brad mentioned he stepped in a rattlesnake nest and we were trying to figure out if he was full of crap or not.
Negative...OS4-0842. How old do we have to be to remember when the first two digits were Alpha? When I was really young, they used a whole word for them.
FWIW i put a Cardone steering gear and cheap pressure line in my 89 f150 DD about 3 years ago. Its been leak free and drives very tight. Of course its luck of the draw....
