Shane, I looked through the previous pages starting at post #1 for some of the information you are looking for. In post #228 I found the application I use to select the rear view camera.
It is the top left application that is red and labeled "AUX" in the image below.
In that same post, I describe how port #2 didn't work the way I wanted it to for the rear view camera and provided some more detail.
Quoting myself below...
The "rear camera input" port #2 didn't work the way I wanted it to, so I had to pull the head unit back out and try one of the others. Port #6 is to be used with the app "FCAM" and port #9 is to be used with the app "AUX" as seen below. I tried both of them and they both work with the back up camera. This is the same backup camera I bought many years ago and was using with the Jensen VX7020. It uses a standard RCA input as found on most other nonproprietary connection cameras.
I ended up using "AUX" instead of "FCAM" simply because it is the top left app when going to the app menu. I don't feel the need to have it on the home screen since we rarely use it now that we don't have the travel trailer any longer.
Another tidbit that may be useful, but probably not...
Backup camera in use by selecting the "AUX" app. Keep in mind I have the camera powered by 12v accessory on, not the reverse lamp circuit.
Shane, as you mentioned we discussed this a bit offline via text and I was "guessing" that I used port #6 or #9 and that appears to be true based on what I wrote on January 27, 2021.
Without pulling the head unit and verifying that I have the camera plugged into port #9, I have to go off what I wrote. I hope this helps sir.

Awesome... thx Sous. Good information to know. My guess is that you can change the name of the app (for instance call it RCAM or Rear Camera) if you wanted. I'm going to try when I hook mine up.

No problem at all friend.
I am not sure about changing the name of the app, but it may be possible. I set my ATOTO A6 Pro up on the kitchen table and messed around with it for a few days. I had it hooked up to a 12v lithium battery from my old motorcycle and a switch that acted as 12v ignition power. I figured it was more comfortable and easier to figure everything out there rather than in the garage with the truck on.
Keep us updated with what you figure out as others may be able to use your knowledge and experience as they progress through a similar situation.
I plugged my splitter into port 9 and port 2 and used the AUX app as you said. Camera works fine both in reverse and now on demand. I didn't find a way to change the app name. During searching I did find settings for reversing the camera view and adding grid lines in the radio default settings. However, this only works for the reverse view, and not the manual view (sure this has probably already been mentioned).
Just curious, do you guys keep the rear camera view where images are on opposite sides of what they actually are, or do you typically flip them? I've never had a backup camera before. So don't know what the typical view is.
I have the image show obstacles on whichever side of the vehicle they are on. If there is a curb or a child on the passenger side rear, I want to know that.
Good to hear the port and camera work as you hoped they would.
The S8 I recently installed decided to stop recognizing the OBDLink EX. The EX now shows a red light and FSL says ‘no adapter found’.
I was able to use my BAFX dongle and old phone to scan the truck and pull/clear codes, so OBD2 port appears to be fine.
What should I try next??
Do you have access to a laptop or something with a USB connection to test the OBDLink EX?
Did you try another USB port on the front or back of the S8 to see if maybe that port on the head unit is faulty?
Did you verify the USB connection settings in FSL are still accurate and didn't change? Sometimes settings like this can change if there was an update.
Try to uninstall and reinstall FSL, but first save the gauge profile so you can load it after reinstalling.
I'm not sure what the red light means. I have an OBDLink SX and don't recall if it has a light or not because it is under the dash and connected with a 90° adapter.
Was the OBDLink EX fully inserted into the OBD port?
Is there any damage to the contacts of the EX or debris in the connection area?
This is what I came up with off the top of my head. Let us know what you find.

Yes, checked settings in FSL and everything is as it was as far as I can tell.
Tried unplugging and replugging the EX before using the BT dongle which worked fine.
I will try a different USB port on the S8.
This problem appears to have started after I installed the Vegistroke system which powers up the ‘engine run’ circuit after the ignition is turned off for the purge sequence. This does some weird things with the accessory delay relay circuit and could have caused the glitch.
I recall having to change the data rate speed (forgive me for not recalling the exact setting name) when using the OBDLink SX USB dongle. There were about 6 choices for communication and I went down the line until I found one that worked. I can look through the posts or go out and check the truck later today if needed.

My OBD EX does the same thing sometimes. On my ‘05 anyways, the OBD port and the cig lighter share the same fuse. If I pull the fuse and put it back in that usually gets it to connect. It can be finicky at times but my truck has other wiring issues that cause other strange things to happen as well.
If all else fails, you might try resetting the S8 to factory defaults. I think the procedure is posted earlier in this thread. Somewhere around last summer.
My atato a6 pro will be here this week. I am gonna use the methods shown in this thread to attach the head unit to the inner dash instead of the bezel. My question being, for the USB obd dongle, I see the one Sous recommends is 60$ and I don't really wanna shoot that for one so, my options are: keep the Bluetooth one and have auto connect on, or get a USB one from Amazon. I believe I recall after reading this long thread, Sous mentioned that these head units have the ability to have 2 Bluetooth connections one being my phone and one being the bt OBD2 dongle correct? I may just do that if so. Or I found this one specifically for forscan.

I'm sorry Sous, I'm also gonna rob your idea of the wireless charging mat in the cubby for my phone and earbuds if you don't mind.
I was gonna wait to order my head unit but I have been waiting for going on 6 months for Amazon to have the one I wanted in stock because it was cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else. Well they finally got it in stock but only had 4 of them. I woke up the next day and it said 1 left. I bought it then. I wasn't waiting another 6 months so I went ahead and bought it.

Just so we are clear, I recommend a USB dongle over the BT dongle simply based on the integrity and reliability of the wired connection over the BT connection. My first plan of action was to use a BT dongle, but I was gifted a USB dongle and now prefer that method of connection. So, not so much a recommendation as it is a preference.
The OBDLink EX or SX will work, but they are a bit pricey. Another USB option is in the link below.
I have one of these I bought in 2018 and have used it in the past a few times. It used to be on the FORScan website listed as an approved dongle. It may still be there, I'm not sure.
Yes, the ATOTO A6 Pro has dual BT receivers, as you mentioned. That was the primary reason I went with the ATOTO A6 Pro as I originally intended to use a BT OBDLink MX+ for FSL and my phone for music and phone. On the ATOTO A6, one BT is designed to be used as a data connection for OBD purposes and the other BT is for media.
I encourage each person to use the method they prefer, whether that is BT or USB. Regarding the ATOTO A6 Pro, they have that choice.
Truth be told, if I had known I only needed one BT receiver, I may have selected another head unit. Although, I am 100% happy with the ATOTO A6 Pro after over 10,000 miles of using it for navigation, media and whatever.
Tristan, no need to apologize sir. I publish my ideas and methods here so that others can use them, learn from them or improve upon them. I have been known to change up an original design of mine for an evolution of that design that someone else engineered.
That said, be sure to get a mulit-coil charging pad. I really like the charging pad in the truck as it makes using and charging the phone very simple. Simplicity is the kin of often using something.
I hope you enjoy the head unit and it serves you well!
