To clarify my install of S8 standard. Camera to head unit via rca to rcin port. Camera to negative of backup light via black wire and camera to plus of backup light via pink wire. CAMERA POWER (RED WIRE) TO PWR ANTENNA, (BLUE WIRE,). Works as previously described.
Can't figure out steering wheel controls yet. Somewhere I read a post explaining that no additional "black box" needed.
I decided on a backup camera afterall. I want my camera view to automatically come on when I'm in reverse, but also have the option to turn on the view anytime I select the backup view icon on the head unit. So it sounds like I either need to wire it the way you did or the way Runningman does it in post 597 (he wires to red keyed power instead of powered antenna like you).
So question based on that, but first clarification of the wiring pieces. We have 1.) factory hard wired radio connection 2.) aftermarket adapter that plugs into #1, 3.) ATOTO harness that plugs into #2.
Our trucks don't have a power antennae. Does the factory harness #1 still have a wire for It? If it does, then it is basically acting as a keyed hot then?
Yes, I simply used it as a keyed hot since it has no other function in our vehicles.
Going back to my question. Since our trucks DO NOT have a power antenna, I'm "assuming" there is not a wire for it in the factory Ford radio harness #1 that is keyed 12V (maybe I'm wrong). So does that mean you are connecting directly to the ATOTO blue power antenna wire (which isn't connected to anything else) and the ATOTO unit itself is sending 12V through that wire when the unit is on? If this is the case, is there power to that wire anytime unit is on, or is there some setting in the ATOTO unit that you have to go enable for power antenna?

The Atoto blue power antenna wire is only powered when the unit is on. It's an automatic function that isn't (AFAIK) possible to change in settings. I've wired my rear camera to be powered by this blue wire, but it is triggered by the feed from the back up lights, there was already a signal for this in my truck as the previous owner had a mirror with camera display (camera on third brake light) for hitching a gooseneck trailer, so I used that. I couldn't find anything in settings to be able to manually select the rear camera so I installed an RCA splitter & ran the second plug into a different AV input, this works but as it's obviously intended for video & sound, once selected I lose any other sound source, so no music, no navigation voice, I haven't tried the phone........
I will need to add a manual switch with diode to prevent back feeding the back up lamps.
Thanks for the information guys. I found this video that explains "in general" how to hook up the backup camera with both methods (just when in reverse and the option to auto turn on when in reverse and able to manually turn it on when needed). So basically whant you guys mentioned. I just thought it would be a good visual representation for others looking to do this.... I'm all squared away now with what to do. Just waitin on my camera to arrive now.

I finally installed my backup camera. I wired it to the blue power antenna like you mentioned for full time power, and ran the signal wire to the tail light reverse+. Camera works as it should in reverse, but I don't know how to turn it on manually. I don't see a backup camera app on the ATOTO. How are you guys seeing the backup camera when you want to view it manually? Do you have to download an app or something?

Unfortunately there's no option to turn it on manually, I have put an RCA splitter in & the second connector goes to the AV input, so I can manually select the camera, but this turns off all other sound input (music, navigation etc.) so not ideal.

I didn't read of others adding in a splitter, but maybe I missed it. Hopefully some of them will chime in as well. Which back port did you plug yours into (it would have to be either port 6 or port 9 I believe)? And what app on the unit were you using to open it? I guess I just assumed there was a backup camera app on the radio, but I couldn't find one (but then again, the intended use doesn't require one). I do see a front camera app. I assume could use your method and run the splitter to the front camera port 6 (if not using).
I found a video of people using some camera settings to view, but that was on a different headunit. Not sure if that would apply with the ATOTO. Haven't dug that deep yet.
I'm not sure how generally applicable this is, but my S8 Premium G2 came with an RCAM app that shows the rear camera view on command. It's kinda cool, in that it doesn't show the gridlines that appear when in reverse. The radio's install instructions talk about how to wire it up, and it looks like it requires the HD02LR camera.

Do you have an image of this app. Curious if it is something I can download.
Image as in picture, or image as in binary? Here's the former:
I have a suspicion this is an ATOTO thing, but I could be wrong. If you can't find it, perhaps ATOTO support could help.

Thanks. I'll do some digging. I ordered a splitter like Rob said, and I'll likely run that to the front camera input since I believe I have an app on mine for the front camera. I'm not using a front camera. So I'll just use that as my rear camera on demand feed. And I "think" I could rename the app for rear camera, but don't know for sure.
Based on memory alone... I have a couple of "camera" based applications and at least one auxiliary video input application.
If needed, I can go out to the truck and get some pictures, but I think the fellas above have you pointed in the right direction Shane.
Based on the application, I believe it was just be a matter of what port you Y the feed into (like Rob mentioned). I believe port 6 and the FCAM app will pair together. I believe that port 9 will pair with (not sure the app paired with port 9)? I'm not at my vehicle to look, but maybe you guys know offhand which one would likely pair with it?
Sous, does port 9 pair with the app that you mentioned to me offline the other day? Is that where you plugged yours in since you didn't connect it to the reverse circuit? If so, I'll go that route and Y my connection to port 9 and try and rename that app.
