For our TT and previous 5th wheel we used the paddle style LED lights in the fixtures, as you have there. For our current 5th wheel we went "all out" and bought LED's from M4products.com. There are various series of LED's and form factors available when looking at LED bulbs and finding your best fit can be frustrating.
The M4 LED's are much brighter and of superior build quality. But, they cost a lot more as well. We plan to keep this RV for a long time after swapping out the others after a few years of owning them. We found a perfect setup for our use in this RV, finally.
The third brake light being LED has caused some people trouble with cruise control. Most are not able to notice any difference. I know of at least three 7.3L owners personally that have an LED in the socket and cruise control works as intended.
It is said that cruise control may not function if the third brake light is burnt out and the LED resistance/amperage draw is far less than an incandescent bulb and our PCM may see that as a burnt out incandescent bulb.
Similar to the fast flash if a turn signal when an LED is installed without changing the relay.
I was just thinking about some LEDs for our hunting camper the other week. Batterie is charged off solar and with location never gets a good enough charge (battery is probably about shot too) so LED would get us more light with less drain. At 12 bucks for a set of 10 I might just have to get some of those myself. I'll have to check bulb style next time I go out.
You may have said and I missed it, but where did you order them? Amazon?
DUDE!! Did you forget about our secret forest spot already?
I didn’t, and maybe if there is a northern GTG in the summer we can meet up, swap some stories, enjoy some Single Malt, and you can Toot your own horn.
I looked pretty rigorously yesterday for a discount code for rallylights, but everything was either expired or item specific.
Having a PO box on this side of the border might be worth your effort. Although, travel time, box rental fee, fuel cost and border crossing hassle should all be factored into the equation.
I just bought something from Canada and the shipping was very high, but it is what it is. My mother used to buy medication from Canada that was not blessed by the FDA Gods. It was a pain in the ***, but it worked well.
Our USPS shipping prices are going up again in just a few days too. Just some things to consider when mulling over your options.
Thanks for digging into it for a discount code for me.
Funny thing is here I am looking for a headlight relay, already have the Hella 100/80 w bulbs in my cart on Amazon and I very seldom drive the truck at night.
In 2021 I only put 800km on it.
In the past I used a company in Sumas Washington called Ship Happens. They are basically a massive PO Box for Canadian shoppers avoiding the high shipping costs, Duty, taxes, and customs handling fees.
It was flawless. Park on the Canadian side, walk through US Customs, 5 minute walk each way, and back through Canadian Customs.
911 slowed that process down, and nowadays a Covid test is required to cross
