That looks nice. I have a fuel control module for my Titan auxiliary tank. Do you think if I provided him pictures and dimensions he could make one for it? I'd pay him of course. Be a cleaner install into my dash panel.
He says he would like to take a stab at it.
I know that the measurements are precise and done in metric.
I measured the Hydra controller and sent him multiple pictures of everything in imperial.
Eventually he came by to take his own measurements in metric. I handed him the controller to make his life simple.
PM me your email and I will forward it on to him and then you two can discuss this further.
Peter printed me a template as well which I taped into place then marked the dash with a sharpie. Drilled the 4 corners first then with a fine tooth saw cut the rest out.
Where I mounted had some plastic in behind that also needed trimming to allow for the depth of the box.
It looks good in that location. I talked to Peter in regards to making one for my aux fuel controller. I purchased an F650 manual dash awhile back to install, but I keep debating if I want to go that far with the install, or just do something like you did....
I will have to look into getting a fine tooth saw blade. I'm always looking for better ways to get a clean cut in plastic, but it never seems to turn out how I hoped.....
Has anyone here ever used one of those cheap hot knife cutting tools? Wondered how well they work on plastic?
I looked at the manual 650 dash but couldn’t really justify the purchase knowing that the most I will install is a switch for the ESOF 2wd lo, fuel pressure gauge, and the Hydra mount.
I’m happy with how it turned out for the install and looks nice and clean, centred between the wheel and the headlight switch.
If I could go back and change anything …moving the mount 3/4 of an inch towards the headlight switch would have reduced the amount of cutting in behind.
As for the saw blade here is what I used. Nice small teeth and narrow blade height. 3/8” hole and it passed through nicely and was able to put it back on the handle for ease of cutting. Cleaned it all up after with a file.
I had the same issue with some extra trimming needed behind the switch mounted in that location. What you have done there looks very good.
I'm finding the hydra switch body floats a bit in the metal housing I have from riffraff. Going to need to jam something in there to lock it down.
Does your switch fit pretty snug in the printed housing?
The first one he printed was a too loose, second is the one installed, the third was too tight.
It fits a little loose, time will tell if we need to secure it. My wife does scrapbooking and if I need to hold it in place I will use her picture mounting squares.

Turned out great!
I use a dremel with a bit similar to this for rough cutting holes in dash, etc and then the file and/or razor (utility knife) for fine detail.
I received my dash plate from Peter. Minus a small modification needed to the back to fit cable better, it turned out nice to fit my fuel controller. I still need to test fit against my F650 dash, but happy with it so far.

What is the titan thing you have there? Thats a new one for me.

That is the fuel controller for my new Titan Travel Trekker 50 gallon auxiliary fuel tank. Picked it up on a discounted deal around Christmas. Figured I would try to extend my range on trips if/when I actually go anywhere....lol

Awesome and fancy! I thought it was a chip I hadn't heard of before. You will love the extra fuel range. I have a 60 gallon tank. I have a switch in the cab to pump fuel to the main tank. Not as fancy but it is nice seeing the fuel gauge go up when towing

That’s awesome Shane. Looks great in your hand so will be even better mounted.

Looks like a nice toolbox/tank combo Aaron. Which one is that? Looks like the same fuel pump that comes with my tank. What is that other electrical device before the pump? Some sort of anti-siphon valve?
