Windshield replacement has gone up here. $250 for the one I had done last week... I did a time lapse video of it that may show up on the truck owners YouTube. Probably took 15min to R&R the glass including a little rust mitigation.
Looking good sir! Hopefully the windshield replacement goes well.
I use Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and really like it. I used to use the NuFinish wax, but felt that the clean up was cumbersome. I switched to Meguair's Ultimate Liquid Wax and it has treated my vehicles well. I use a Turtle Wax Ceramic coat spray at the 6 month mark after the compound and wax were applied.
I have not seen the Meguiar's Scratch 2.0 in action and may have to give that a shot. Thanks for posting up the products you use and the results.

I hope so as well.
I use Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and really like it. I used to use the NuFinish wax, but felt that the clean up was cumbersome. I use the NuFinish inside the shop so shaded and cooler and I find it comes off nicely. In the sun on warmer days it can be a bear to polish off.

For heavy oxidization on the paint or some deeper scratches. Cuts through the crud quickly, but definitely has to be followed up with the ultimate compound.

Curious what you have to pay up there.
At a minimum it will be $300.00 for me since that is my glass coverage insurance deductible.
I will let you know the total cost for the install.
Going to go with the 2001 replacement glass as opposed to the newer Superduty logo glass. Wife says “you want 2016 logo’d glass, buy a 2016”.
I agree, Retro Jethro. Won’t change my mirrors, nor front signal lenses either. Headlight lenses and bulbs… well that was a safety issue.
As in behind the grill on that header? Depending on the plug on the end of the extension cord, it might me a little difficult to reach in there. Otherwise, I don't see a reason why not.
I preferred to mount my two AC port plugs at their respective corners on the front bumper. I have one for battery a tender on the passenger side battery and the other for the block heater on the driver side. I put them there for easy access and in case I forgot to unplug them and was backing out of the driveway they would "unplug themselves". They have been this way for years and not one issue with either of them.
To answer your question directly, there is nothing wrong with your proposed location of mounting the port other than ensuring there is ample space and clearance behind the mounting surface other than it may be a bit cumbersome to use. I tend to go with easier to use solutions as if they are a pain in the ****, I may skip using them. Then that defeats the purpose of the modification or project.
Below is a recent picture I took where you can see the block heater port in the lower right of the bumper.
Truck goes in for transmission service on the 5th, then scheduled for the windshield replacement on the 12th.
@Sous which wire did you tap into for the 2wd lo. IIRC it was the grey, but memory is fuzzy and it easier to ask here than search. I like the fact that you used the ground so no hot wire running hither and yon.
May 20th will be our first big trip of the year up to our retirement property for a week. I’ve done a lot to the truck since the last time it towed through the canyon. Looking forward to the results of my hard work.
