I got a code reader/clearer for Christmas. Let the code reading and clearing begin. It's actually pretty neat. I have been wanting one for years. It's the scangaugeII. Anyone needs to use it just let me know.

Dad loves his, got my uncle one this year. Walmart sells a mount for it online.

Hope everyone had safe snow days. We did for the most part, yesterday dad hit black ice, slid off the road and flipped the excursion. He's sore, but walked away from it ok. Don't have any pics of it yet, but the roof is smashed in. Happened over off Rex road about a 1/4 mi past where it hits avent ferry.

Dern man. Hope he's alright. Sounds scary. How did they haul the truck out? Flip it over, drag it up and put it on a roll back. Home or wrecker yard? Bummer all around.

He's doing fine, thank y'all, and it was too icy to even walk on last night, they'll be hauling it back to the house this afternoon We are guessing it's totalled.

Good to hear he is ok.
I worked yesterday 18 wheel LP trailer did a 2 loads from Apex to Henderson & Kinston.
The road in Henderson was packed snow/ice but just took my time and was ok.
The ramp from RT 1 to RT 40 east had 6 cars off the road because of ice on the turn when I was going to Kinston. Coming back in the dark for Kinston was not fun as it made it harder to see any bad spots.

Driving a liquid tanker is like driving on ice & snow all the time on how you turn & brake even when dry out.

Glad you didn't have any issues driving. They interviewed dad and it has some pics of the excursion.

Wow... Amazing he didn't get hurt.
That's totaled for sure.
Did the side curtains deploy?

Glad to hear he's alright Dusty. I agree with Tony, most likely it'll be totaled.

Glad to hear your dad's alright.
And yup, the Excursion is most likely Fubar.

Similar to the deal with your old f150, chassis, engine and drive train are fine. Seats are still all intact. Was running when it flipped, shut itself off, radio was still playing, he couldn't get to the ignition to shut it off. Only had 50k original miles on it. Still think he wants to get a shop to fix it. Can't buy them anymore and this was built in September 2005, so literally one of the last ones built. it would take a whole body swap though.

Or, take the body off of your dad's Excursion, build a roll cage on it, and take it out to Uwharrie and go playing in it

Wow. The excursions are known for their weak front pillars. That makes me worried seeing it crushed like that. Maybe it's time for a internal roll cage or possibly a new truck. I don't like that at all.

Your dad is dang lucky to have walked away from that.
