I've already got the tires, I ordered them from Tire rack. It's getting a set of Generals Altimax tires. I did research, and read reviews for 3 or 4 days before making the decision.
Well I got the dually pulled apart today, a full turn backing off the brake adjuster and it freed right up, took the drum off and checked it out. Apparently it had been to tight for awhile (had a shop check them last time I had tires put on the rear), but everything looked intact. I got it set right guess I'll take it for a spin sometime and see how it works out.
Thank you. He's bent on fixing that excursion, so we'll see what happens. Took spinning it over three times to get the air out of the fuel lines, but it fired up and ran smooth.
My 97 F150 through a CEL Tuesday night P0301 so I picked up a new plug because it's cheap and simple, but that didn't do anything. Spark plug wires are about 3 months old, I also swapped injectors between 1 and 2, and missfire stayed with cylinder 1. It also gained a tap when the missfire started but only above idle, but it doesn't sound like a rod knock. I also knoticed if you unplug injector 1at idle it taps/knocks 3 or 4 times, however if you unplug any of the others it doesn't do that. I checked and I definitely have good spark from the plug. I plan on picking up a new compression tester tomorrow since mine never was returned. If you take the oil fill cap off it doesn't have any blow by at idle, however if you rev it you get a quick cloud out of it.
Any other ideas? I thought about picking up a kit to check the injector pulse.
Yes passenger side front hole. Like I said, the spark will arc over a inch.... bad thing about the 4.6 wires is the way they run its harder to find one to just swap.
Along with a compression tester, another good tool to have is a vacuum gauge. It can tell you a lot that the compression tester won't. And like you mentioned needing to test the pulse of the injector, you need a Noid light. I have a set here, but that doesn't do you much good.
Let us know what you come up with.
Just checking, I caught someone fighting a miss for quite some time cause of that before. I know the wires suck with the routing. Even a good arcing spark can be too cold. Where are you located?
