Official NCFTE Works Thread

My family was here earlier in the week so today was just the wife and I so spent an hour or 2 in the garage.
The rear tank sender stopped working shortly after I get it on the road so I worked on that toady.
Know what it's like to drop the rear tank even empty?
I checked to make sure the wiring was good by shorting out the wires so knew it was the new sender.
Once out I knew what it was, the float was full of gas.
I did test the sender and it works great.
Swapped float from the old sender, drop unit back in tank and tank back up in place.
I hope it dose not leak once I have fuel in the tank.

I got a polisher for Christmas, and since it's beautiful today, I'm going to see if I can get rid of those one million swirl marks in the paint job on my old Mustang!

after talking to some of the guys on the bike forum im gonna try throwing a little oil/ grease into it to see if maybe its only because its dried out...
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts

I guess the bearing was ok with a little oil / grease or you would not have gotten this far.
I installed the head light relay harness I have had for years for another project that my son used on his YJ Jeep till he went with HID head lights.
The hardest part was gone thru my Rubber Maid bin I have all my auto electrical stuff in looking for connectors and a 20 amp breaker as the harness did not have fuses on the hot leads.
I also gave a few turns of the screw driver to raise the head lights up as they were to low for me. I will bring the driver to "fine tune" next time I have the truck out at night.
I still need to look into what is needed to adjust the driving / fog lights in the bumper as I may not have built in enough adjustment for them.

yeah the guys in the CB/CL forum said those bearings do not like to be dry.. drier they are the noisier they get... and probably dried it out when i was cleaning off all the metal shavings with the parts cleaner.. once i shot some oil into the bearing it got alot quieter... also rolled very smoothly.. no bumps at all like you would expect to feel if the bearing was messed up.. once it spun quietly i just loaded it up with assembly lube to keep it from drying out while it sits waiting for me to finish the rest of the bike...
the assembly lube im using breaks down with engine oil so it can be easily flushed out.. same stuff i used for reassembling my bigger engines... so it wont be a problem once i pour oil down into the crankcase... itll also protect the parts from dry running at the start until the oil pump gets pumping and pushes throughout the engine...
Next step after i put the magneto, shift linkages and starter on says to install the clutch basket and the clutch disk's but im going to save the installation disks until i get closer to running as i dont want them to dry out between now and then... ill put the basket in now.. but save the disks for later.. i will put the side cover on though to keep the dust out but will leave the gasket off for the same reason...

Looking good Shawn.
I took the truck to work yesterday to get it out as it has been sitting since the dinner.
The head light relay kit worked great! I cant believe how much brighter the lights are on low almost to the point of not needing high beams.
If you been thinking of doing this don't think any more just do it.
Thinking of tanking the truck rest of the week to work so I can fill both tanks to see what the MPG are and if the rear tank is going to leak after I had the sender out for the float change.

And for them that don't believe I will use the truck, I filled it with cardboard I will take to work.

I change my avatar!
It looks like this

The cardboard came from the house garage when I pulled the street Javelin out so the pick up could go in.

And this is the Javelin that went into my garage as the next project.

I will be checking in from time to time to keep up on things and will be looking for a 5sp transmission for the truck as that will be the next big thing on the list for it.
