Josh that is a good size building you got planned, I assume concrete floor?
Excurvelle I sure didn't expect you would need a permit for a carport, since it's not a permanent structure and it doesn't touch the house.
Dave as soon as the LUV is out of the workshop, I need to move my daughter's 66 Mustang in and get to work on it!

Here in LEE county it's the width or the depth. The height they don't care about so much. So keep it under 12 ft wide or long and you are good.
Nice thing is that if you need extra room, a vehicle can be stored underneath.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Neither of our legs actually touched the pipes, but the plastics are opened on both right there and the heat would just roll right out to your leg. Also hoping especially on my 800 itll keep some of that heat off of the engine and gear case.
When I mounted the compressor I found the PS was using the crank pulley groove for the AC.
The PS pump had to be moved back to use the middle groove so had to make spacers of that then found out the PS belt for AC trucks should go over the water pump.
That was fine as the WP pulley had a groove open just needed to get the right size belt and I was good with the PS.
But when I went to install the AC belt the WP pulley had a smaller dia. groove and with the ALT & PS belts going over the WP & Crank the AC belt would not work with the pulley.
So I put the call out for a 3 groove of the same dia pulley for the WP and a member came thru but took a week to get to me.
So waiting for the pulley I worked on the hoses, dryer, etc.
I ordered 3 new hoses but 1 would not fit from condenser to the evap but my old hose would work. I did order a new dryer that would fit that new hose but the dryer would not fit the evap.
So had to order a dryer for my year (81) truck, the others were for 84 as they changed to the same compressor I am now using.
It took 3 tries to return the wrong hose, dryer and the AC belt as it was to small to even fit over the small dis. WP pulley and I needed the larger dia. pulley.
Last weekend with all the needed parts I swapped the WP pulley. Found the 3 groove pulley was smaller dia. than the old one?
I flushed the Evap coil, installed the right dryer, blue orifice valve, and before instilling the hoses I added Ester oil to the different parts of the AC system.
Had to hit the parts store to try different size AC belts to get one to fit then back to the house to charge the system.
During the week I bought a R134A gauge set and a vacuum pump from HF. I could have rented a pump from auto zone but did not know how long I may need it or what shape it would be in is why I got a new one.
Had a little issue with the system holding a vacuum but think I did not have the valves set right. It pulled down to about 25 HG in no time and I let it set while I did some other things.
Came back in about hour and a half and still at 25 HG so I called it good and started pulling down vacuum again for almost 2 hours while I wired up the compressor and a few other things.
It pulled down to almost 30 HG so was time to charge the system. I bought 3 12oz cans as I was told it should only take 2.5 cans.
Well a little more than 2.5 cans and it was blowing cool air but not cold. Low side was only about 45 PSI @ 100*f OAT I could not check the high side as I did not have an adaptor for that side.
After some checking with members they said it needed more Freon low side should be 50 - 55 @ 100*f OAT.
So I picked up 2 more cans to be on the safe side and good thing as it took both cans to get the low side up to 50 - 55 @ 95* as the charts point out.
It blows cold now to the point on the way home from work I had to turn the fan speed down as it was getting chilly.
Its also a good thing the pick up AC is working, my Durango's front fan, front & rear systems, stopped working Monday when I hopped in it at 1am for work.
So I will have to look into that at some point.
But we are chilling in the pick up with AC

Next up is to wire up the trailer brake controller, sitting on the work bench, and lights to the 7 blade plug I have mounted out back.

I have not done any truck work for the past 2 weeks, just no desire to get out in the sun, but the kid that bought the 79 Camaro from me called me and asked if I could recommend a shop to put on an exhaust system for him. Apparently the 2 places he called informed him that if his car originally came with a catalytic converter, they would have to install a new one in any exhaust system they built. I told him I have no experience with any exhaust shops in the area, I have always built my own, so he asked if I would help him. Turns out he already had an entire system that someone gave him (for a 77 Trans Am, but they're the same basic car anyway), so I said yes. Which means I've been helping with that this whole week, not to mention the newly rebuilt engine was running poorly, he never did any kind of tuning on it. Being 19 he has no experience himself and I guess no one has shown him how. I found 5 vacuum leaks so far, I think he was under the impression that shoving a bolt into a dry rotted vacuum hose was "good enough".
I saw ***** yesterday, he is doing well. Working and enjoying life! He was having a beer at Niko's Pizza which is a new place that opened up recently at the Cleveland Emporium on 1010.
We had to make some modifications for the system to fit up to the headers but this was definitely the easiest one I've ever done.
Trying to teach him to weld. I'm not very good at it myself so my teaching method is "just try doing it and then I'll look at it and tell what you did wrong"
Trying to adjust the jackstand and it banged right down on my finger, nice painful blood blister!
Think the parts truck had AC no?
I know we talked about moving the dash from it to your FLARE SIDE (that other manf. truck is a step side) and thought part of that was AC? and being a better dash think wiring also.
I have not stopped by because its been to hot, work hours to long and this virus thing.
When you are ready to do the swap or need a hand drop me a line and I will see about getting over there.
The only reason I worked on my truck to get the AC working in this heat it was the last big thing left for me to do so I could drive it in this heat.
Being a smaller area to cool than the Durango oven, it is nice to hop in for the ride home from work as it cools off really fast.
The day I got the pickup AC working the Durango's front fan stopped working. I looked into it this morning and found there is a bad connection at the fan speed resister and plug.
I was trying to undo the plug and the fan started working so I left it.
I have replaced the resister 3 times now and the pig tail once because it melted. I will pick parts to have on hand when it stops again.
