Larry, definitely ordered them with out grease fittings. I do believe they are the larger u-joints, and it's in an 02 d30 with out ABS. I did look at the chromoly shafts online, but I'm not quite ready to bite of on them. This looks more like water got passed the seal and rusted the bearings, rather than a shaft twisting or breaking.
Axle shaft is back in. And the brake controller is installed. Looks like it's factory! Thanks to Bob for coming out on this rainy foggy night to give a hand. Wouldn't have gotten the u-joint done with out him.
I thought about it. I guess I don't have the patience I used to any more. Also, before I but a lift for the shop, I guess I should plan on buying another good bench vise. As the last one I had grew legs...
Called the local dealership, and they told me they wouldn't be able to get the truck in until next week. Called the guy who I met this past weekend (luck maybe?) that worked in a small independent in Cary. He does have the factory computer software for communicating with our newer Fords (and maybe some of the older Fords) and he was able to knock it out in short order. The shop was Modern Service in Cary, 158 E Chatham St, Cary, NC 27511. (919) 467-1214. Patrick there know's his stuff. That's for sure.
So know Lucille has a working trailer brake control module (though I will be testing the brakes prior to loading TJ up on it).
Got the brake controller programmed at Modern Service in Cary: 158 E Chatham St, Cary, NC 27511 Phone919) 467-1214. Patrick, who I met this past weekend, sure knew his stuff and they carry most every manufacturer computer\programmers\etc just like the dealerships would use.
I did try the local dealership, but after his not so obvious 'sigh' when I told him I installed it, and his less than friendly 'We can get you in Next week' i just told him not to worry about it. I'd find some place else that wants my business. This is the second time I've dealt with them, once before I bought my new truck and they were a waste of my time then.
Double post....
Did you finish off that Angry Scot just a bit ago
:/ no the original post didn't show up after I refreshed, and I'm in go go go mode. I'm not sure if the backup coffee pot has something to do with that, being that it's insulated so I have hot coffee all day long!
No more walking to the kitchen for a hot refill...
Here's what I'm doing today.
I have me a smoking deal lined up for my stock exhaust on my 2011 F150, for a Flowmaster Series 70 1 in, 2 out, with the both tailpipes, and 3" diameter chrome tips. I had my stock exhaust on the ground in 3o minutes, even after a few trips to the shed for different tools.
I should get the Flowmaster muffler bolted up with no issues (), and now looking for a shop to weld the pipes back up, and ad one hanger.
If y'all know of a muffler shop that does nice work, and not try to kill a guy, please let me know.
Yes, the front wheels are chauked, and the Parking Break is set...
Appreciate that!
From what I could find on youtube, the 70 series seamed to have that sound that I'm looking for. Nothing too awful loud, but still some volume, and a deep tone. But I do dig the noise. May have something to do with the hearing that I have, or don't have.
Well I think I have my shop picked out to weld the pipes to the muffler, and ad a couple of hangers. I found a place .5 miles from the house that will do it for about $50. Everybody else was $85 an hour, to $150.
So I have an appointment for this Thursday afternoon. But I did get the muffler bolted up, and in the factory hangers. And I like the sound, deep deep deep rumble But it will change some after the pipes get on, and to the rear bumper.
But a huge improvement from the factory muffler, and the Resonator that also came off.
