You are going to want to pull that hood! With the engine leveler you will not have enough upward movement to clear the cradle without hitting the hood.

Yeah I know I was just lining it all up to make sure I had room lol. I can't open it all the way either because it hits the grave door when its up.

Did you separate the tranny from the engine? I'm thinking it might make removal easier in the long run. I thought about doing it but can't figure out how to separate the torque converter.

No I pulled engine tranny and transfer case all as one unit.
The tranny should be easy to separate you just need to take the access cover off the front and take I think 6-8 nuts (Cant remember how many for sure) off as you spin the engine that hold the flywheel to the torque converter along with the bolts that go through the bell housing to the motor, then you should be able to slide the tranny towards the rear of the truck and drop it using a jack.

Awesome thanks! My only concern is the angle that puppy needs to come out at with the tranny and if I can lift it high enough with the jack. I am limited because I don't have the stock wheels anymore lol. I might buy some rims from the junk yard and drop it to the ground without tires. I could get it out of the garage too then lol.

If you remove the tranny you should be good to slide the arm out to the 1/2 ton hole to like the 5.4 out. It only weighs 500lbs dry I think so even if its full should still be under the 1/2 ton mark.

My truck has an 8 inch lift and i had to put stock rims and drop them down to about 10 psi to get it into my garage and pull the engine with everything still connected.

I think you will be fine with just the motor and extending.

Awesome thanks! I wasn't sure i was going to be able to get it all out but in that case I'll pull the entire drive train. Probably this week or next, I need to get the truck ready to move as well within the next few weeks before I move.

I need to bolt the bed and fuel tank own and zip tie as much stuff as i can thats hanging up out of the way for it to move about 3 miles lol.

Just a list for you guys so you know what to expect:
- Bolt Fuel tank to Frame
- Bolt Cross members to Bed
- Bolt Bed to Frame
- Zip Tie up all low hanging wiring and hoses

If I have time:
- Remove from drive shaft
- Remove Starter
- Remove Trans cross member
- Remove Drive Train

The cummins will not go in until I move to the new house i definitely dont have that much time or space while we pack up all our stuff lol.

Question for you guys, the Allison Defuels between shifts... it wont be able to running in stand alone because it will get the TPS input but it cant defuel the engnie i will have to do that. I'm not going to kill the tranny if it cant defuel the truck will I?

Apparently Chevy and GM trucks defuel between each shift, I thought the term was strange as well but those forums say if you turn that setting off it eats up the clutches.

The best analogy i could find is its like you let off the gas pedal between shifts.

You are correct. Alot of the tuners defuel a bit between shifts. what is does is it takes some of the fuel away from the engine between shifts as to not cause too much stress on the transmission. The engine usually also defuels to compensate for high egts.

I did some quick searching and I understand (kind of) what they are talking about. I will say though, when I dyno test these transmissions I dont have anything like this going on. Its a straight input coming from an electric motor that spins the input on the transmission. The only thing we have added to the transmission is the tps but we are running a basic calibration. Its not expecting to see an engine. Ive never heard that term before and I dont think any of our large transmission do this.

Interesting, I guess I'm not worried then. Worst case i only have $700 into the tranny granted once its said and done it will be more but i can build it after that. I'm not going crazy either I'm just mildly building the engine and i dont drive like a maniac either lol.

Hey guys just an update. I am going to be moving within a month so what I plan to do is basically put the truck back together in the front for example the bumper, grille and radiator support so I can latch the hood. Once that's done I am going to leave the interior and finish the rear end. Basically mount the Ex tank and bolt down the bed as well as zip tie up and wiring harnesses and fuel lines.

So i am trying to figure out how to get the truck out of the garage now... lol i need to drop it about 6" roughly i was thinking about getting some rims from a junk yard with no tires and rolling it out on to plywood so i dont dig up the drive way then putting the tires back on. Is that a crazy idea?

Currently I have the rear of the bed bolted down, the tailgate back on, the front end is in process and i will bolt the Ex tank in this weekend.

Buying a house and having a wedding withing a month of each other is not recommended...low truck funds and no time to do anything lol. Good news is i will have a nice clean garage to work in vs having to clean out everything from the week my family puts around the truck. It's a pain because i spend about 30min-1hr cleangin before i can work every time then i have to put it all back so thats 1-2hrs before i get anything done...very discouraging sometimes lol.
