I am already running 18" XD monsters (-12mm offset) and 35x12.5 nitto terra grapplers. I thought the rear axles were the same width? It's so hard to find info on this while searching lol. I originally thought the 05+ axles were narrower than the older ones so I definitely won't have rubbing issues since I don't have them now. I do also know the lug nuts are different so I was planning to swap studs in the rear.
It's possible you might end up with rubbing since the wider axle will push the wheel farther toward the fender liner at full lock, you'd need to check how much clearance you have right now. I think the wheel offsets moved from around +26 to -6 but I could be wrong, if that's the case it would push your wheels out 1.25 inches on each side.
I decided not to go with the newer axles for the truck and to just rebuild my current ones. Good news however though, had my wedding this past week and I am leaving for my honeymoon today. I didn't get to work on the truck because we are finally closing on our house so my wife and I have just been packing the past few days. I should be moving in next weekend once I get back and all my truck related activities will finally resume since I will have garage space again. I will start with removing the motor and trans then wrap up the dash and frame/under the cab.
Congrats! It sucks you have to move as soon as your honeymoon is over.... but I look forward to seeing your new work space
Thanks! Yeah but it's well worth the past few months of effort and stress lol it's all coming to a close at once. Plus I suckered like 8 friends into helping me once I get back lol. Will need ideas for the new garage I'll post pics once we start moving in. A compressor is on my list as well as a work bench (been during for one of those). I have a whole back storage room to
Nice. Don't forget the pizza and beer for the moving crew.
For the compressor, I would seriously consider Craiglsist. You should be able to find a 60 or 80 gallon 1-5 HP old American made model for just a hundred $$$. If you go with new, it will most likely be foreign made unless you pay out the nose.
As for the workbench, this came out really sturdy. I did this for about $200. If you want the AutoCAD file, I can email you a copy and you can tailor it to your needs.
I saw plastic versions in a work bench kit. Then I found the steel ones and kinda built the bench around using these. It came out SOLID that's for sure. And the brackets from Lowe's (the ones I used) take 22 screws a piece....
PM me your email and I'll send the CAD version on Monday or Tuesday next week.
Thanks guys! Just got back from our honeymoon today had no service on the cruise for a week which was nice but I could respond lol. The house ended up getting punched back a few days so we will close and move on next weekend vs this weekend.
I would love the file for that bench I had auto ad and have been meaning to redone load it so here's my reason lol.
Also don't worry I've got plenty of beer and will get pizza for the painters/moving crew this weekend and next lol. Good news is the current owner is going to let us paint and what not this week so probably won't be any truck updates the next two weeks until we get settled but I'll post some house pics for sure! Going to get painting supplies tonight lol.
