Just a word of caution on the house buying... make sure you have a few thousand extra lying around when figuring out your down payment. When I went through this, our house under-appraised.... meaning the price we agreed on was no longer valid. Re renegotiated price, but now we had to bring several thousand more to the down payment because we lost seller's assist. We were not planning on this, but we were able to make it all work, but it was the most stressful week of my life
I am also looking forward to the nicer weather. My project list for the house and the vehicles is growing by the day....

Good to know thanks! We have been saving for a down payment and closing costs which i forgot about completely. I'm already extremely stressed and I'm juts house shopping not even buying yet lol.
Just when you think you have enough money.... you always need more money lol.
I will say though, the day I signed that paperwork was up there as one of the milestones in my life. I bought my own house with my own money from my own job using the education that rapes my bank account once a month
And that was a good feeling. No more renting, no more dealing with land lords... the only one I have to answer to now is my wife And lucky me she is out of town this week I am king of my castle until Friday afternoon!!!!
Didn't get a whole lot done this weekend but i got a spin on filter for the transmission and i filled the rear diff with some royal purple fluid, couldn't resist i got a deal on amazon for it. I love how easy the Mag hytec cover is to fill! I also replaced the cummins rear main seal and put the SAE 3 bellhousing adapter on for the test fit.
This week i am going to break the motor mounts free and make room in the garage to get the drive-train pulled maybe it will be out by this weekend! I will hopefully have the xfer case pulled and cummins test mounted this weekend. I am going to drop the front drive shaft tonight and start cracking the mounts loose.
Well gentlemen I juts got some amazing news, i just got the call that our offer was accepted on our house and we will start closing in July August! It has no garage but we got it cheap enough that we can afford to build a good size one. Any ideas as to what i should account for or plan to get other than a compressor? It is going to be a two car garage so i can fit the Truck and charger in there and have room to work at the same time.
All that being said the truck needs to be ready to move by October now which is a good amount of time but I am traveling a fair amount between now and then for work so I have to kick my butt into gear for that as well.
Yeah I like that, it doubles the internal filter change interval.
Thanks! I am going to do that once it's built I want to put walls up that way it stays warm unlike my parents. I am going to see the cost of having that all done when it's built vs myself.
If I have enough room I may do a lift burning not sure yet depends on the size of the garage one its laid out on paper. Ideally I want to put a lift in so I could pull the cab of the truck and replace body mounts and paint the frame you name it. Also would make life easier when I work on the charger one day.
My buddy's dad built a 40x60 foot garage back in 2006. It was a steel building they bought and had delivered. I want to say the building delivered to his house was about $30k. He owned a backhoe which he used to assemble it. He did all the work himself except for the utility connections. When he poured the floor, he ran tubing to heat it. I highly recommend this. He also poured extra thick cement pads where he wants to install a 2 post lift although he still has bought one. If you do want a lift, get a tall building.... like 14ft minimum. I have no idea how much he has into the project at this point, but it was well worth every penny.
Do you thinking ahead of time and it will be great
Thanks, that's good to know I have always wondered how expensive those steel buildings were. Unfortunately its only on a .25 acre so i dont have that much room...well i do but i wont have a yard lol. We chose this because it was affordable and a blank canvas for us to build off of. The next house though will have a big garage like that steel building with all the bells and whistles! I will have to look into the concrete for the lift, i never thought of that lol. My buddy is an architect though so hopefully he thinks of all these things i dont know about.

just make sure you have a tall enough door to fit your truck. future proof it too for roof racks lights or whatever you may want later on

I run things at my house too, like the lawn mower, vacuum cleaner and the dishwasher. lol

Allison says that internal filter doesnt get changed until you overhaul the transmission. That control main filter (red spin on) should be changed ever 15-20K miles. Dont know if you had an oil in mind for the transmission but I recommend using Allison Transynd. Its the full synthetic and is good for 100K miles.

Awesome that's even easier then, I read that on a Duramax forum somewhere a little while ago. thanks for the fluid recommendation i need to fill it soon!
I'm also curious what everyone thinks about the transmission harness. I should be able to get the external harness and TCM fairly cheap i would just need it to be programmed as standalone does anyone know if the Allison dealers can do this or not? There is an F650 shifter cable and bracket that would allow me to just attach my current shifter set up. Been thinking if i can get the harness then just provide power/ground then i could get it running stand alone for much cheaper than the other $1500 options available.
I have been researching the diesel conversion today for MA and i cant find much if anything on it... everything basically contradicts each other. I'm curious if i could get the truck to pass as is with the cummins in it instead of going through all the paperwork. sounds sketchy but i know there's a bunch of people that have done it around here lol.
From what I've read, if i get the fuel type changed which requires an inspection by the DMV then i should be able to pass the diesel inspection. Not sure how to go about the fuel type change and inspection though once I'm done.
I'm waiting to hear back form my buddy who use to be an inspector to see what he says. I dont want to get too far into this if the effort is futile lol.
