Got everything tightened up and sitting the truck only has maybe an inch of rake now I think it was the way it was sitting with the ubolts loosened and partially supported by jack stands.
I didn't realize that the hawk pads did not come with hardware so I will have to get some as well as new slide pins and boots because two of mine are really tough to move and one is rusted in place.
I have found that a lot of companies do not include hardware. When I did the wife's brakes, I had to order slide pins (one kit), boots (one kit), and pad mount clips (one kit). Then one of the slide pins had an incorrect bolt in it, so I had to co back and get another set
Monte- there are other silicone based brake grease lubricants for less as well at different stores, I just like the brush this one has along with thinking Permatex and Loctite create quality products.
Yeah it's rather annoying that they dont come with it up until now every kit i have bought comes with the pad mounts clips.
I agree with you Bentley i use loctite and permatex at work all the time and i prefer them over other brands usually. I will see what advanced has down the street though.
You guys have any idea where i can find the brake pad mount clips? i have been looking all weekend and couldn't find them. Advanced (online) said they didn't carry them i didn't have a chance to stop in a store though to double check. I really want to wrap up the rear axle stuff this week if possible that way i can just roll right into all the bed work.
Of course right after asking for help i find it on rockauto lol for those also lookign in the future or not its Motorcraft BRPK5643A its teh mount clips and the rubber boots for the slide pins. I'm going to replace my baking pins while i am at it as well, they are rotting so i might as well do it. I'm going to wait until i get the bed on though so i can removed the axle and have enough room.
Did some work on the motor last night, naturally the KDP kit came with a 2nd gen gasket not a 1st gen one so now i need to wait for a new gasket to reassemble i might check advanced auto however and see if they have one.
Pics:
Timing cover removed
The pin hasn't even started to come out yet which I'm very happy about however i already bought the kit so oh well!
KDP blocker installed
I also finished drilling out the holes on the rear support of the bed last night and will pop it free tonight as well as start to drill out the rest of the holes or remove the remaining pieces of the middle ones and the plastic fender liners. I am thinking about cutting out the metal liners and just leaving the plastic in place held on by some screws minus pop rivets that way i can clean the metal and POR it behind the fenders because its already rusty again around the welds for the new quarters.
Oh sorry I've read so much into it that i think its common sense even though this is a ford forum lol. that hole next to the original screw houses a pin that is known to work its way out and then fall into the gear case casing major failure because of all the gears. That blocker basically just keeps it from falling out and needing to buy all new gears and potentially a timing gear housing. While i had the cover off i remove the cap and will be installing an oil filler tube onto the timing cover as well as replacing the forn main seal, i will be posting pics up!
Tonight my goal is to get the bed to 70% completion aka remocing all the supports minus the front one and liners so i can prep for painting. Also i forgot which support beams go where! god damn i need to look that up now lol.
Edit: Found it!
Front support - 3" tall x 2" wide x 6' long
2nd support - 2 1/2" tall x 2 1/2" wide x 5' long
3rd support - 2" tall x 2" wide x 5' long
4th support - 1" tall x 2" wide by 5' long
And 1 1/2" tall x 2" wide x 1' Long (for the two spacers that sit on the frame)
I did, i used 243 but i am debating about using some red loctite instead so it really doesn't move lol. Most of the bolts on this motor call for blue loctite though.
I'm painting it black by the way sorry forgot to answer that lol.
Here is tonight progress! I got the rear support removed and damn it fought me the entire way... The floor under it is a mess it's through to the bedliner in spots. However it's still workable, I also got the new supports measured and will cut them this weekend once I get back from Detroit (I leave Thursday come back Friday night). I apologize the pics are probably out of order the app mixes them up. I also got the fender liners removed, i am going to cut the inner metal liners out and just run the plastic ones. What is everyone's take on doing POR then monstaliner to top coat it instead of the POR top coat.
