Yeah i wanted to do the coil conversion from the start and i think for $1200 to get axles with less miles than mine which only have 104k anyway. From what i remember researching and i will have to dig up my old threads the swap is mostly bolt on like you said with a couple holes to be drilled for the radius arms. The front sway bar even bolts up the the 04 frame it has holes already there.
I did buy the 95 with the intention to SAS it and if i did the coil conversion on the 04 that would give me all the parts for the 95 SAS with the exception of an RSK and trac bar bracket and some other odds and ends.
You'll like the coil bring front swap, better ride and much sharper turning radius.
My 04 F-450 SC long bed now turns sharper than the wife's old 01 Z71 exd cab short bed.
Never did any front axle mods to my 95 F-350 so can't help there.
My question is does the SD spring perches line up width wise to the OBS? My cousin did the swap on his 97 Powerstroke 250 and he used SD leaf springs, but the front axle was from a 94 F350. If you have to move the spring perches on the SD axles, that is some major surgery.
Hey guys, I apologize that I've been off and on here I have been trying to make progress but haven't had the time lately. Unfortunately my wife and I are currently starting to go our separate ways which has sadly been a long time coming. That is partially the reason aside from my busy work schedule that i have not been very active the past few...years really. I stopped working on these projects to try and focus on my relationship however we have still decided it best to go our own ways. We are still friendly it is just a long process with the house and splitting up our things and what not so i have been tied up with that. I am almost over the hump though, we have finally moved everything and are settling in to our own places now. That being said we still have a great friendship that we have built over the last 11 years which is making this process easier than it could be for the two of us.
Over the next couple of weeks i will start to be more active making progress on the truck and other projects as i get more spare time. I just flew in from a 2 week business trip and found the 16 charger with two flats in the garage...so naturally the brakes have needed changing as well. So first things first i am going to do the brakes and tires on the charger then get into the Super Duty.
Here's what i am planning on starting with:
- POR front frame section and engine crossmember
- Remove cab heat shield and POR cab floor
I'm starting light to make it realistic lol one i finish those two ill get into it again.
Also i decided not to axle swap the Super Duty and to get a 92 - 97 F350 axle instead for the 95. I can do that and still use the current 04 front springs since I will be plowing with the 95 and get 4" lift springs for the Super Duty.
Appreciate it guys, we're both being civil which really makes it much easier than it could be. I am just looking forward to getting through the process and the projects will also definitely help keep me busy.
Sadly my charger got hit again last night in another parking lot...this time the paint it just scuffed though and i dont believe there will be much if any body work. I got my brakes in and some new rims and tires delivered so silver lining i guess lol. I'll post some pictures this weekend and hopefully I'll get to the truck as well!
20x11 (rear) 20x9.5 (front) The 20x11's are huge! Just a minor scuff but enough to need more paint....
Hey guys, I started a tread for the 95 in the OBS section if you would like to follow it the link is in my sig! the 04 is going to be put on hold like its been until i get the 95 where i want for the winter and i will focus on the 04 all winter long basically. i am basically trying to make these trucks have as many interchangeable parts as i can like springs, wheels and tires etc.
Hey Guys, I just wanted to post this so nobody is anticipating any sort of update if they come through in the future. I had to sell the F250 about 7 month ago, this past year I had to move because my wife an I were expecting and I had no where to put the truck where I could work on it. I reverted the truck back to stock and sold all of my parts that I couldn't transfer to my OBS. It was very sad to see it go and I'm bummed I never got to finish up my cummins swap but maybe that will be a future project in the OBS if the 7.3l ever fails me.
I appreciate everyone following the build up until this point, I'm off to bigger and better things and I'm grateful for everything i learned while working on the F250, its the main reason i was able to be successful on my OBS project.
Thanks, I know I really didn't want to sell it but just didn't have the space or time to finish it unfortunately. At least I finished my OBS though and selling the SD allowed me to finish it and buy a new Bronco to put my car seats in.
