That is true, I already have the whole front end removed so I can pull it straight out. I'm planning to start working on getting it pulled this week after work. I want to have it out before mid January so in like 3 weeks. Sounds like a long time but with traveling that's maybe 3-4 days of me working on it a few hours at a time lol.
Any suggestions? Should I pull the intake I was going to originally but I don't thing I really have to now.
Sounds easy enough, I'll hook it to the bell housing and the front of the motor. I've disconnected everything I can find minus the fuel lines. Anything else to be aware of before I hook her up to pull?
Also spent today putting all the parts back on the motor! Still gotta paint son parts lol.
Hope everyone had a merry Christmas, here's an update from this week had a lot to do so I didn't get much time with the truck should have plenty of time after the new year though.
I tried flipping the manifold for the twins install but it doesn't look like that will work well so I may just have to get creative with my piping.
I want to get this thread rolling again guys been so busy the past few months and after tomorrow i will finally have time to work on the truck for longer than a few hours here or there. I need advise on the console install and my dash swap, i want to finish the interior before it gets too cold and i shouldn't be working with plastic...i say that and its December lol.
Getting the Expedition console installed is a no brainer however I'm not sure what to do about my fuse panel. I am thinking of making amount for it that is under the cup holder area that if a fuse blows i can pop it off and then pull the panel up but that's a major pain if i have one blow and if its an important one i might as well walk home than try and fix it on the road lol. I also thought about basically putting it in the glove box instead, any thoughts?
once i get the console in an the new headliner the interior is just about done minus the steering column and i am eager now that the back half of the truck is done to finish the interior. I decided to finish this before pulling the motor in orderto not jump around too much.
Also attached is the 12v photos i meant to post in my last post.
I used 2.5" flips I think it was roughly 2.5" my truck sits such higher but I am guessing that is from my new springs that have not had time to settle from driving yet.
I'm going to update my dash swap thread I think I finally figured out the fuse box situation! Took a good look at it yesterday and started to 3D print some parts for my swap and started to plan the console install.
I haven't been on this site long and just found this thread, looks like I have a bit of reading to do. I have an 04 F-450 that we did a 12v conversion on a couple of years ago and have been very pleased with the end results.
Looking at the pics of your engine I can tell you that you'll need to swap the valve covers around, the inj line go between #1 and #2 covers and also between #5 and #6 covers there forth the double vented cover on #5 and #6 wont work. You'll need a single cover on the front and back cylinders with the two vented covers over the four middle cylinders. I reclocked the vent tubes with the back one at 10:00 and the front one at 7:00 with two short hoses going to a brass tee and a single vent hose going over the left side near the fuel filter. I think it turned out pretty good. The other thing you may want to consider is using an alt bracket from Auto World allowing the use of the factory ford alt.
Thank you! I never took a picture of where I had the new covers originally so I just guessed when installing them lol. I was going to reclock the vents, if I do I could flip the turbo and it will clear by like 1/4" from the front vent. I am still considering that bracket because it would be nice to just keep replacing the alts with factory ones.
What did you do about the A/C compressor did you go with the dodge or ford one?
Naturally I have a ton of questions for you now lol.
I notched the front cross member and used the Dodge AC comp to keep it simple and down out of the way, we married a set of 7.3 lines to the Dodge manifold but unless you have an AC shop close by it maybe better to purchase them from DCS or Destroked already made up.
Ask away and I'll try not to lead you wrong, I'm getting ready to swap in a new engine soon (I hope) because the used engine turn out to be an oil drinker. I took a few pics but was in a hurry the first time and didn't do a thread on the conversion. Planning on more pics and a write up on the conversion along with some info on the engine built when I get time to do the engine swap. Also have an 07 F-550 coil spring front to replace the leaf spring unit that the truck came with, maybe use 250 or 350 coils to soften up the ride, I pull gn trailers so front end never gets loaded.
