Good to know man thanks! I think I'll go with those then. My gf's dad has the tool but i might buy one just to have. Id like tk learn how to dk it myself. I plan to not drive the truck but I still want some rust protection lol.

I'd use the same spot it's been done before someone even wrote a pdf how to ill link it when I get to my computer for you guys. I could do a double tank I bet but I think 44 gal is enough lol ill hang on tk my old tank for a little bit to see if I can come up with a use lol. The plan is to use the gas tank location for an OBA set up and retail the skid plat to stop some spray and protect the things I mount in its place.

That excursion tank is pretty slick and I like the idea of using the new free space for OBA.

I know plus its an extra 15 gallons of fuel lol...it will never go below half because of sticker shock though. Thanks I'm going to try and make a sealed unit for the tank and air pump so that they wont rust. I was going to put some quick disconnects o the outside if the tank that way if those get really bad they are cheap to replace and the expensive stuff is saved.

Good idea. I had a thought about OBA on my truck. I was looking at polished stainless tanks for the air that could be mounted to a frame rail. I was looking at these compressors: UNDERHOOD Air Compressor Systems | VMACVMAC. Complete overkill but I loved the novelty. They put out 12 times the air that my in garage compressor does and you can take them any where.

That thing is badass lol I might hold off and get something like that for when I eventually do the cummins swap so I can have it engone driven. I assume its like an ac compressor and only activates when needed or switched on?

I would agree with that. It is a really neat concept. That would be really nice after a 12V swap...

You're never going to get to drive your SD again.... lmao Just keep changing it and looking at it lmao

Screw the brake lines i ordered a big glass case for my front yard to showcase it in . Seriously though i have too many idea's for the thing lol after all this stuff aside from putting POR on the frame it's basically to the point i want except the 12v which it will get eventually just a matter of time lol.

Plus i gotta be able to work on the 95 and Expy now too lol although I'm trying to leave the expedition alone except for drivability and comfort improvements like LEd headlights etc. The 95 will be turned into my winterbeater/offroader soon/now lol.

I have tons of ideas, but have to curb them for a little while until i have the excure to spend the money lol

You could always por the frame when you do the swap. That would be a great time to jack the cab off the frame and remove the bed to help the swap

Keeping up with 3 vehicles is quite a challenge. It takes a lit of time and money (when you want to do things right instead of quick and cheap).

Are you going to start taking your SD to shows?

I have to start curbing my idea's because i need the money now for...other things lol. To be completely honest i want to do the excursion tank swap because I'm doing all my brake lines so i was going to drop the tank and remove the bed anyway so i figured it's a good time to get a lot done but i feel that once that's done I'll be holding off for a little while.

Keeping up with 3 cars does kinda suck lol, my Expy doesn't need anything though because it was well taken care of and I'm fighting every urge to do something to it lol. I added led blinkers and switch back leds though beacsue i took them off my 95 which for some reason refuses to work with leds even with the led blinker relay installed. My 95 once its running i will just keep it the way it is for a few years until the SD is "done" (yeah right) lol.

I had thought about bringin my truck to some shows like the local ones in my town and theres a few during the summer on my way home from work that i pass by but i feel like even though it looks nice (this is also my opinion i know others might not like my style) i feel like the few things like the frame surface rust and light gray seats still make it not worthy lol.

Quick question.. how hard is it to jack the cab up off the frame enough to be able to paint the top of the frame rail and bottom of the cab? I'll probably replace the cab mounts while I'm at it but if it's not hard i might as well while i do all this unanticipated maintenance lol.

Nice! I am excited to see this

Start soaking the bed bolts in PB now and be prepared to replace a few in worst case lol. If they are worried about brake fluid, pinch the line off with a pair of vise grips. That should give you good pedal to move it. Are you going to clean up and paint the rear of the frame?

Oh good idea! I just wont have rear brakes but i have my e brake still.

I will but I'm cutting them off because they were rhino lined over so i dont even wanna bother, i got some new bolts a while ago but i think i may use them on the 95 and get some hex heads instead so they are easier to take out eventually.

I will be coating the frame in POR while the beds off but Not entirely until the tank is mounted because i may need to do some welding or drilling so id like to just paint it once and be done with it instead of two or three times to touch it up. I still have 3/4 of a quart left from when i coated the floor pan so ill see how far that will take me before ordering more.I might do the axel too since i will be pulling my 2" blocks while i have plent of room to get leverage on the ubolt nuts....omg I'm making this into so many projects lol your right i wont ever drive it again.

Look for the bolts somewhere before you cut them. Those extruded U-nuts that clip on the frame that the bed bolts feed into are tough to come by in the required size. LMC sells them, but they are pretty expensive. Just food for thought.

You should really replace the axle U-Bolts instead of reusing them. When you torque U-bolts, you stretch them because of how tight they are cranked down. I was taught to replace them after they have been torqued down and driven on because it is a safety concern.

I just found these earlier today. Something you may want to consider since you are protecting from the elements...
POR-15 Metal Prep
POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser

And air needle scaler may help you prep the frame. I wire wheeled the Ranger frame, but I was told these work well too...
Klutch Composite Pistol-Type Air Needle Scaler — 4000 BPM | Air Needle Scalers| Northern Tool + Equipment

Told ya! I got the Ranger done last night and now I have plans to take it apart again

Good to know man thanks! I always use the POR Marine clean and Metal Ready even if there is another option i just fee like using all their products means it will work instead of combining a few different brands. That tool is cool! i may invest in one i do have a wire wheel but that might help in the corners of the frame.

That's good to know about the Ubolts and they are not that expensive to replace. I currently have 8 SD bed bolts and clips I'm just debating if i want to change to something else and weld a nut or something to the frame so i can use a different type of bolt. I have a local shop that sells all kinds of hardware really cheap so i will probably go by there first. I have plenty of time to plan because I wont get to it this week and i am leaving for vacation in two weeks so it wont be until mid August before i can really get rolling on this ongoing project lol.

I try to just get all my little projects done if I'm going to be working on an area like under the bed doing the brake lines i always figure well i might as well make it less work so i don't pull the bed 5 more times lol.
