You have a 250 with the very solid Sterling axle, but you don't have the factory lift blocks that act against the bump stops.

Try 8 in town and 11-12 highway...

There is nothing wrong with Ford/Sterling 10.25". If you ever had to do rear brakes on a Dana, you wouldn't want one so badly.

Matthew, what gear do you have in that truck? 10-11 is 460 fuel mileage. I am getting 11. to 11.7 with mine and that's in a truck that weighs almost 6K empty and has 8 tires rolling resistance.

Be happy with 10-11, for city I probably get below 6 and highway... maybe 6.5. I was going to find out for sure till my brakes broke. Now I get to fix them again.

I know, the 10.25" is a very sturdy axle, I'd just perfer a 9" for how easy they are to work on. I have 3.55:1 gear ratio with stock LT235 85 R16 tires, keep in mind that this time between fillings (haven't put gas in it yet) the pedal went to the floor once and went about half way down another time, if I could keep out of the city of Auburn (that city SUCKS for gas mileage, stops everywhere) I could probably get 12-14 all day long. Their roads, are also horrible.

I keep forgetting about that, if you changed your gear ratios your mpg would go up quite a bit lol.

Yeah my gear ratios are a bit wonky . And I do agree that Auburn has some pretty bad roads.

You must be high as a kite to be thinking that a 9" is "easy" compared to the 10.25".

Yeah, I'll get that if I'm not stuck in traffic or letting it idle too much.
I have 4.10's, #1,000+ in the bed and a heavy foot.

Well, I watched my dad rebuild the 9" in our Galaxie when I was little, new ring and pinion, brakes and all. Didn't look too hard.

I get to have bearings re pressed onto my axle shaft.... Plus new lug studs, nuts, and a wheel cylinder. Then I have to put all my brakes back together.
