HAHA, that video describes it! I wound up putting the Edelbrock back on, the Autolite ran like crap and the passenger side of the throttle shaft leaked, ****! couldn't get it to idle lower than 1200 RPM and it kept having a stumble at 1200 RPM just sitting there, although it did have the best throttle response I have ever seen on a carb before.
Matthew, it sounds like you probably had either something internally wrong in that carb or made a mistake somewhere. The leaking throttle shaft sounds like it was flooding. I guess I'll need to see if I still have the 1965 390 one.
The thing that's weird is it idled and ran just fine on the 352, but that engine's so worn out it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't make enough vacuum to notice the problem lol. This carb seemed to dump a bit less gas by looking at the boosters than the Edelbrock.
Alright so about a week ago I decided to complain about the fuel tank sending unit I bought 9 months ago being inaccurate, LMC Truck sent me a new one free of charge, however. The first one that I actually bought was longer than my original, and the resistance switch thing was slightly lower, probably why my gauge isn't the most accurate. However, this time the one they sent me is exactly the same length and everything as my original. I tested it and got some ohm readings, here they are: empty tank 76 ohm. 1/4 full 46 ohm, 1/2 full 26 ohm, 3/4 full 20 ohm. full tank 12-13 ohm. Can anyone tell me what the factory ohm readings are supposed to be?
Found out why the Autolite 4100 butterflies wouldn't close fully, the new choke housing I got is made slightly differently than the old one, the old one where the vacuum tube part that goes from the carb to inside the choke housing, it tapered in and went away to make clearance for the high idle screw threads/lever. It was hitting the choke housing since this one doesn't taper down. Oh well.
I gotta say, my little Motorcraft 2bbl carb hasn't given me any real issues. It had a rebuild a bunch of years ago before I got it. Only issue is the froze-up idle mixture screws. lol
I miss the days when you just tossed a Holley onto whatever it was that you wanted to make go fast and that was it. Modern technology and modern fuel....psssh
Dumping gas everywhere? what'ca talking bout willis? OH you mean that fuel line leak I had, that was just a bad crush washer on the fuel line inlet adapter.
While you're reading this, send me a PM I wanted to ask you something lol.

I had a 2bbl before I got my Carter AFB, it was the stock 2150 Motorcraft. That sucker was 500 CFM and worked mostly ok, but it wouldn't tune for nothing. I had a few different people try mixing in new plugs/wires/coil and such. I sold that to someone on the east coast and got a 4bbl Carter AFB 500CFM, with an edelbrock performer 400 intake. It works pretty good, everything around it is bad though
I changed my fuel tank sending unit today, this one reads a bit more accurately, I got it backwards, an accurate one will read lesser amount on the fuel gauge than my old one, and that's what this one did. The old one read 1/2 tank and this one read between 1/4 and 1/2. And when I looked inside the tank with a mirror that looked about correct. I don't think I got that tank completely full last time I filled it, Either that or it just likes it's gas lol. The old sending unit got 18 Ohms full and 86 empty! it read around 45 Ohms at half tank when the new one reads about 26 ohm, a bit of a difference! this one also doesn't sit there and peg back and forth a tiny ways sitting somewhere at a stop light or anything. This one seems to work more correctly. And I put 2.7 gallons in and now it reads just over half tank. Pretty accurate.
Well today I finally found the ID tag on my C6, it was so covered in grease and dirt I couldn't see it, I found it by accident actually. I was expecting it to be some dinky thing, not this big ole tag that goes across the bottom of the servo cover.
I painted my gauge cluster needles factory Ford orange today, here's some pictures.
Before:
After:
The tachometer needle is the same exact colors as the rest of the needles, just had a bad camera angle or something and the camera made it look different. It sure made them easier to see now!
